A few gripes, but a lot of praise
Hey guys. First off, I just wanna say that I’m loving Raindrop. I’m a crossover from Pocket, and your apps blow them out of the flippin’ water. Your categorization, tagging, and view modes alone are miles ahead of the competition, let alone the accurate website parsing and thumbnail generation. With little to no effort Raindrop makes your links easy to find and look great.
That said, your iOS app here needs a little work. All of the above is still true, but adding links via the share extension is a real chore. The Collection picker that pops up can be quite slow to load depending on the connection, and the option bar that pops up afterwards must be tapped out to exit, making the whole deal a 4-tap process. Perhaps an option to save to a default collection, and/or a timed dismiss for that option bar would alleviate some of that? I dunno.
My second gripe with the app has more to do with parity with the web version, which is gorgeous btw. Things like a custom reader view for videos and a collapsible collections bar are missing here, but work great on your website even from a mobile browser.
With that said, those critiques pale in comparison to all the awesome features this app provides, and I’ve tried quite a few to help store and share my bookmarks. Well done devs! I’m excited to see where this app goes.
Not there yet!
The update took the app from something weird to a better UI that needs to be debugged which has taken forever now (slow updates). I don’t understand why would you focus on developing themes instead of getting a practical, usable, bug-free app out first?!
How hard is it to understand most people are used to tagging using commas or spaces. No enters, hashtags, etc. Also, tagging should be CONSISTENT between desktop and mobile.
I liked the UI and did the migration. Payed for it too. But there are lots of feature-rich providers out there that could win Raindrop over and are still free! 🙄
Finally the mobile app has view options
I love Raindrop on desktop and web and for the longest I couldn't understand why the mobile and tablet apps has such a bad and limited view experience (only list view). Well finally we are able to now have various card views and also the app is a bit faster. Thank you!!
