Description

Raskell is an iOS Haskell interpreter and editor, with Vi inspired keyboard custom designed for Haskell on the iPad version.

Raskell is built on a ported and extended version of the Hugs interpreter, giving you access to a full Haskell 98 development environment on your iOS device.

Coding on the iPad's builtin keyboard can be a challenge, so Raskell also comes with a custom keyboard with Vi derived bindings, so that you can move, edit and manipulate your code without moving your fingers from the iPad's virtual "home row".

Other features:

- the interpreter is integrated with the editor. It checks syntax in the background and displays a visual warning if it finds any errors.
- elegant syntax highlighting
- organise your files in folders
- export files and folders as tar archives
- search hoogle directly from your source code

What's New

Version 1.0.13

- Added clear button to the interpreter
- Improvements to parenthesis autoclose logic
- Fixed bug with selection menu in an empty file
- Fixed bug with stdin emulation

Works surprisingly well

redadz

I'm not using it for development; I'm just using it for a handy REPL to test out little snippets while I read "Haskell Programming". It's great to have a REPL close at hand wherever I am. Performance is snappy. And the ability to save expressions in files for reuse later is a nice bonus. For this use case it's awesome.

I'm using it a lot more than I thought I would. Thanks to the author for creating this!

Nearly broken in iOS 11

Metageek2017

In iOS 11, if I switch away from Raskell and back while the editor is open, the UI gets corrupted, and I have to kill the app and restart. Also, I can't export files any more; tapping the share button crashes the app. I used to be able to use this as a sketch book and then move my work to my laptop when I needed real GHC, but that might not be viable any more.

Works pretty well, but much less well on iOS 10

I like Raskell. It's a port of Hugs (not GHCi) to iOS. The GUI is idiosyncratic but workable. It's a little clunky at times but fine for small programs when I don't have a laptop with me.

I've taken lots of points off because the GUI is broken on iOS 10. Programs run fine but typing can be very hard.
