Game of chance
This graphically appealing, underdeveloped game should be called "Tactical Lottery in Fantasyland" for four reasons:
1)You have no control over how your units are deployed and this game sets you up for failure at every single stage. The game decides, for instance, that you want vulnerable units way out in front and stronger units way in the back. Have fun just fixing deployment blunders for the first few turns.
2)This is a game with a dice-roll mechanic, and it will ALWAYS favor the AI. Your troops will hit far less frequently, and when they do, they will do minimal damage. The AI will hit at least 90% of the time and will eat your lunch.
3)There is no control over unit production. You will be given lumbering, worthless spearmen (deployed in the open, probably at lower elevation) to take on archers. That should be fun.
4)Numbers count for nothing. A unit with 2 health is as combat-effective as one with 10 health. Can 2 troops inflict the same level of damage? Does this make sense to anyone?
A triumph in tactical gameplay and storytelling. Ravenmark's rich world, sweeping & intriguing plot, and deep lore create an experience like no other indie strategy title. Gameplay is tight and challenging, requiring real strategy in the later levels. It has been a few years since the title was released, and it remains one of my favorite tactics games of all time (on any platform) -- up there with the tanks of FFTactics, Tactics Ogre, and XCom. It is a real tragedy that Ravenmark didn't see the commercial success it deserves... I would have loved to see the story continue to develop in proper sequels rather than in the lackluster multiplayer-focused followup that we got instead. Still, this first Ravenmark title is a masterpiece, one that will have a permanent spot on my iOS devices.
UP THERE WITH XCOM
Let's get to it. I'll let the other reviewers detail how excellent this game is. What I will say: Get all its campaigns and support the Devs. This is the kind of game studio you want to support and help flourish. Imagine if they had a big budget like EA or Activision.

These are our iOS classics in the genre of Turn Based Squad Tactics. All these I own on my iPhone 6+ and all work well. Go support this wonderful genre that has been stale for awhile. Luckily, we have some real good ones.
