Best so far, and worth the money.
After playing with this for a few days, I’m thoroughly impressed with the sound and feel, as well as the relatively simple setup. For those of us who have spent hundreds (or even thousands) on pro music software in the past, the price is a drop in the bucket, and quite reasonable for a professional application that is not a toy. I’m optimistic that the developers will continue to refine this app, and hope that the features of the desktop/laptop version that are missing in this one will be included over time.
One of those missing features is the ability to adjust the levels of sustain pedal noises in the mix; while realistic, they are definitely higher in this app than they should be, with no means of changing them. That’s my only quibble at this point, and I’m looking forward to further developments.
I can’t stop playing this piano. The sound is outrageous. I especially like that I can change the timbre so easily and quick on a gig. The darker settings are great for mellow tunes. What people aren’t mentioning is the feel. It just feels right. You can adjust the touch and that combined with the tone adjust gives lots of variations to play with....but the touch feels great.
Also I thought the price was high for this but if you consider the cost of a full keyboard with decent samples you are looking at lots of cash$$$. This sounds every bit as good for a fraction of the cost. I’ve used it on trio gigs and also playing with a big band. How about a Rhodes next time? 😎
Let me start out by saying that I’m really impressed with the quality of the samples and how expressive the app is. It really does sound amazing. However I paid $40 to have great samples for mobile recording. Unfortunately the samples really are unusable because of how loud the dampening pedal is. It really is unrealistic and it is incredibly distracting especially when playing softly, especially since the dampening pedal always reacts with the same velocity no matter how soft or hard you press. For a company that prides themselves in realism, I was really shocked and disappointed by this. Easily a 5 star app if you could control the volume of the dampening pedal. As it is, 2 stars since the piano sounds nice...I understand you can’t include all the functions of the desktop program, but at least make the $40 app usable. Please fix this!
