Absolutely love

I absolutely love this app. As a developer I need to save articles constantly and being able to keep them all in ONE place whether I’m on my personal laptop or work laptop using the Chrome extension is such an amazing LEAN hack- The one thing that could make it better is: my biggest fear is that I will lose articles if the websites change the path or go down altogether. I believe the premium version allows you to save articles not just as links but actual copies so you never lose them. I think this should be possible even for free users. I am apprehensive to get too reliant on too many subscription services where if I go off of them then I lose info- I’d rather not get reliant and come up with a solution. Since we have to put up with ads in the free version but could get rid of ads with a subscription it would be awesome if we still got this feature. If we did I would feel a lot better about continuing to rely on the sweet integration features. The only thing that worries me about this product is it not solving my problem of at least keeping a copy of the text version of articles if the source link goes down.

Works well for what I use it for

I mainly download news articles from mainstream sources and short stories (think web novels), and I've loved all the features this app has. I've been a user since before you guys changed the name from Read It Later to Pocket, which... feels like a long time. Granted, Ive never gotten premium because the basic functionalities fit my needs, and some of the related ads/articles suggested to me are actually interesting.

Offline viewing works; I don't see the point of putting it onto an icloud as a backup, as another reviewer pointed out- isn't that want the permanent library premium feature is for? I do wish that the dark mode could get darker though - I also turn on night mode and set it to the lowest brightness when I read in bed and it never feels dark enough.

One thing I would like is bulk tagging and/or bulk re-adding articles from my archive. It wouldn't even have to be on both mobile and web - just web would be fine, since it's probably easier to do there. (I'm not sure if this is a premium feature already - if it is I'd like to know!)

Thanks for making this app, even if this thanks is years overdue!

What the hell?

I've been using Pocket for the last 4 years, gathering hundreds and thousands of articles that I check back upon regularly. Never have I ever been disappointed in what they had to offer, but the newest update has me questioning whether this app is even worth keeping.

I was in the middle of reading an article one day, when the app crashes on me and I open the article back up to see the spacing in between the lines has shrunk significantly, making the articles unbearable to read. Now, their article display looks like a carbon copy of Safari's reader view, or Instapaper's article view. There's no distinction between these apps.

This is incredibly irritating for avid, existing users like myself and a turn off for new users who are choosing between this app and Instapaper, which the line spacing options are free for all users. By doing this, Pocket is forcing its readers to buy the premium option to revert back to what they're used to.

Nothing Pocket has to offer stands out to me anymore. Their tagging system is absolutely pointless if what I've organized is unpleasant to read anyway. I'm genuinely considering downloading Instapaper now since the app I've known and used for all these years has changed its foundation so drastically that all I feel when opening this app is pure disappointment. Change the defaults back, Pocket. At least Instapaper's line spacing is free.
