Read on Sight is a great way for early readers to practice sight words, an important building block for independent reading. First a sentence is read aloud, then the word tiles scatter, and the player rebuilds the sentence.

The latest version includes lots of fun game-play. For every word you place correctly you earn a star. When you complete a full set of sentences, earn enough stars, or other achievements you receive an animated badge which you can replay anytime you want.

In addition to the fun, Read on Sight also helps parents and teachers by keeping track of the player's progress. Every sentence a player completes is recorded including the difficulty level.

About Sight Words:
At some point we all learn to read without sounding out each letter in a word. We recognize the entire word and know what it means. This skill is especially important for common words that are not easily sounded out. The sooner a child learns these words by sight, the sooner they gain the confidence to read independently. In the 1930s, Edward Dolch went through children's books and created a list of words that were frequently used but hard to sound out. Once a child masters this list, he or she will be a much faster reader, able to enjoy stories without the words getting in the way.

Completing words earns you stars.
Games tracks your progress as you complete sentences at varying levels of difficulty
Completing all the sentences in a level, scoring 100 points, and many other achievements get a unique animation that can be repeated whenever the player wants

Three Difficulty Levels
Easy: Sentence is read aloud and blank spaces are the same size as the tiles.

Medium: Sentence is read aloud, but blank spaces are all the same size.

Hard: tiles scatter without sentence being read and blank spaces are all the same size.

Essential Primary Classroom App!

I can't imagine teaching without this app! It is great for teaching and reinforcing sight words in a more meaningful way than simply using flash cards. It can be set up to meet the level of the user, and works beautifully for ELL and special needs students. Thanks for creating!

Great App

I love this app. I use it with my daughter who has autism. A lot of kids with autism only hear the last word or two in a sentence. Having to reconstruct the sentence has been a tremendous help in attending to the complete sentence. The complexity of the sentences are just right. Can't wait for more content.

More variety would be great....

This app provides good practice with listening to a sentence, then rebuilding the sentence provided. However, each level seems to include approximately the same level of difficulty and it doesn't take long to move through all of the available sentences provided.
