Customer Reviews

I think this will be useful.

I just purchased V1.6.14 and I think it will be useful for me. I blog and write fiction. I read my text aloud and I should be able to use Read4me to do that and save me some effort.

The voice coach was fun to play with, as I was able to program voices with slightly different pitches to read a dialogue aloud. I wish that it were possible to annotate the text to change from one voice to another, say Agnes for a woman, and Alex for a man. Although the help section says that [[rset 0]] resets values to standard, it appears that full stops, 'periods', do the same. In an extended speech, pitch change commands will need to be issued after each full stop.

There are still some glitches. For example, in the text I have written "… it affects how that human lives, …" but Read4me read "lives" with a long 'i' rather than a short 'i'.

Adult Student with Learning Disability

As the title mentions, I’m an adult student with learning difficulties. I am attending school online, and have always found it difficult to read and retain information on subjects that don’t explicitly interest me.

This increases my reading comprehension of my eTextbooks exponentially. I am able to read, but also hear the words. I highly recommend this for any professional or student who could benefit with reading comprehension assistance. I personally have aspergers, but I could see where my friends with ADHD and Dylexia could also benefit.

The intonation is completely natural. The pronunciation of proper nouns is sometimes a little robotic, but the all around feel is very consistent and natural to the ear. This is important. You will not need to listen to something multiple times to understand the voice. In addition, this app reduces the time that you need to identify a word your brain does not immediately recognize, and reduces the likelyhood you’ll get it wrong, even if it’s a word you’ve never seen.

I feel confident that this will play a large role in my success as a student.

Helpful

Needs a read as you type feature which helps People with disabilities identify when what they type is not what they intended to type and helps other identify wrong word as well as other spelling errors etc. Other than that excellent.
