Recipe Organizer Shop'NCook Lite
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Access thousands of recipes of Shop'NCook online database. The database can be searched offline. The application requires network access the first time you view a recipe. It is afterwards stored on your device for fast offline access.
Organize your own recipes by adding them to the database. Recipes can be easily added with copy and paste, or by typing. The application uses Shop'NCook proprietary technology to recognize the ingredients and quantities in the recipes, so that they don't need to be input separately like on other apps.
Moreover, by creating a free database account, you will be able to access conveniently your recipes and bookmarks on all your devices with Shop'NCook: iPhone, iPod, Mac and PC.
The application supports recipes in English, French, German and Italian. Note: most of the recipes of the database are currently in English. At publication time, only a handful of recipes are available in French, German and Italian.
- add or remove your recipes from the database
- bookmark recipes
- limit the display to your own recipes or to bookmarked recipes
- browse by categories
- scale to a different number of servings
- send recipes by e-mail
- display recipes full screen for cooking
This application can be used concurrently with Shop'NCook software for Mac or Windows ( http://www.shopncook.com ), to give you more convenience and flexibility for managing of your recipes.
What's New in Version 1.3
- Increased stability
- The app is distributed with a recent recipe index and does not require anymore to download the whole database index the first time it is started.
- Possibility to select to see only your own recipes by default.
- Possibility to access the shopping list created with Shop'NCook software for Windows or Mac.
So far so good, not perfect but the best I've found so far
I've tried and bought a bunch of recipe apps over the past year or so trying to find one that fits our needs.
Uses a database stored on a sever so the Mac application and the iPhone app can access and edit recips from anywhere.
In addition more than on Mac can access and edit the recipe database.
Also we are given a generous 45 day fully functional trial to try everything out.
First time the app is opened it takes a very, very long time to download every recipe that anyone has ever submitted. Should be a way to download only our recipes.
Also after adding our recipes to the Mac application there doesn't seem to be way to force it to download right away other than removing and re-adding the account information into its settings.
Pretty sure that we will be buying the companion Mac application before the trial period is up.
You cannot get better
I'm a professional chef, I've been with shop n cook for many years and watched it grow from a basic program into something fantastic. Mathilde the program writer has listened to what her audience needs and adding new features all the time. The latest iPad and iPhone apps are brand new and there are tiny glitches to be ironed out, but if you can see it through you will just love the whole program. I now have all my recipes with me all the time. The latest features like barcode scanning, locating and choosing your local supermarkets are just great. At a friend's house and want to get a recipe..do it right from your phone. If you truly want to get the best from the program, download it on your desktop or iPad and integrate it into your cell phone that way you get the best of both worlds.
Needs to have some issues figured out.
I LOVE the Shop N Cook program I have on my laptop. Any issues I've had there have been answered quickly by the designer. I hope that she redoes this iphone/ipad app as quickly. For now I have deleted it from my devices because I find it doesn't function well. I am annoyed that I can't only upload my recipes when I open it. So everything else shows up too. Also when I upload to the shopping list I can't check anything off as I'm shopping nor can I add items that aren't imported from Shop n Cook. My ultimate dream would be to have all my recipes that I enter and download on my laptop (which is easier to edit and add pics) viewable on my ipad where I can use it in the kitchen while I'm cooking.
