Ratings and Reviews
Whether you love movies, kittens, science, kittens, politics, or kittens, Reddit’s official app puts all this (plus kittens) at your fingertips. With a colorful and intuitive layout, it’s easy to browse and post to “the front page of the Internet” across thousands of subreddits that cater to virtually every area of interest. Search for communities that line up with your hobbies; filter posts by posting time, hotness, and more; and get a breakdown of your own Redditing history to see where you reaped all that sweet, sweet karma. (Protip: you can’t go wrong with pictures of—you guessed it—kittens.)
Love it, but needs a couple things.
I love Reddit and the founders (Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman you guys are legends). The community is great and there is no other place quite like it. The website looks like crap though (they should really update the UI and design), so I use the app. But I wish a few features would be added to the app. One feature that I would want would be a “pick up where you left off” or a “just see what’s new/what you haven’t seen”. I find myself closing the app and when I reopen it, I have to scroll down on a lot on the Popular or home tab to get to where I left off to see new posts. Also, the comments display kinda works, but sometimes I find myself wanting to just look at all the replies to a specific post and not the reply to the reply to the reply and so on. So maybe there could be a ‘view immediate replies’ option or something like that. Also, give us options to turn off UI updates that you push. For example, I don’t really like the new font so you guys should have added an option to restore the old font and use that while keeping the updated app with bugs fixes and such. Overall reddit is awesome and I don’t want it to change too much, but some things could use work. 👍
Great app, but terrible new font
This is one of the few apps I love and use several times daily. I have this app since I started using Reddit, around a year ago. Reddit was a whole new experience for me, with the best content from the web, and discussions to go along with it. Since then, I have used the app for news on my favorite topics/interests, viewing fascinating and informative images/videos, and whatnot. The app itself is quite responsive and easy to use. Navigating is a breeze, and the layout is clean.
However, upon opening the app tonight, I noticed something was different with the text. It was only when I opened the App Store that I realized the font had been changed. With this update, the font has been changed from San Francisco (the default for iOS/macOS) to a new font. As people have pointed out in reviews, the new font severely impacts readability and affects the whole app in a negative way. The previous font was perfect, and I don't know why it had to be replaced with a new font that makes reading text much harder. Seriously. If anyone involved is reading this, please revert to the old, default font (San Francisco). Alternatively, you could provide the option to choose from different fonts in the app.
Remember, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
