** 2016 App Store Game of the Year Runner-Up **
Sit on the throne as a benevolent (or malevolent) medieval monarch of the modern age and swipe your royal fingers either left or right to impose your will upon the kingdom. Survive the seemingly never-ending gauntlet of requests from your advisors, peasants, allies, and enemies while maintaining balance between the influential factions of your kingdom. But beware; each decision you make might have implications and unfortunate consequences down the road that could put your reign and family’s dynasty at risk!
Each year of your reign brings another important – seemingly random – request from your unpredictable kingdom as you strive for balance between the church, the people, the army, and the treasury. Prudent decisions and careful planning make for a long reign but unforeseen motivations, surprise events, and poor luck can take down even the most entrenched monarch. Extend your reign as long as possible, forge alliances, make enemies, and find new ways to die as your dynasty marches along through the ages. Some events will span on centuries, with an intrigue involving burning witches, scientific enlightenment, wicked politics and, maybe, the Devil himself.

Before or I start, I want to preface this by saying make sure you know what you're getting into. This game isn't for anyone, by any means. There isn't a lot of action and it's really just politics, but for me, that's what I love! Being the role of a king who governs and balances the needs of his people while fighting a spiritual battle with the devil? Hell yeah Im in! Some people find the dungeon to be confusing but it's because this game isn't simple. You need to take time to understand what everything means. By carefully examining information given to you and simple trial and error, you can figure out everything you want to. Now I want to also say, this isn't a game you play just once, with multiple endings, you need to understand that the first time is gonna be the hardest, and you will most likely get the bad ending first. :/. Just keep pushing, once you get a hold of the mechanics, it is very enjoyable. I had sooooo much fun with this, everything from the simple music to the art to the storyline was perfect for a $3 app. I think if you consider it you will feel the same as well.
Clever game, but the good ending is nigh impossible to discover...
My title pretty much sums it up. I appreciate the game design, and that "AHA" moment when you realize your overall goal. The game then just kind of leaves you completely to your own devices. It presents you with a clear goal, but doesn't really point you in the direction of a solution. I looked up how to get the good ending online, after having played through and getting a bad one once. The process is so circuitous, so exhaustive, it is angering. I recommend to creators drop a few more hints to help users discover the good ending. What's so wonderfully Ironic is that i so easily deleted this app and "escaped the curse." The frustration doesn't make this game worth the money, though the concept and game design is good. If you're in to repetitive gameplay that may force you to pour upwards of 20 hours on the game, then by all means buy this game. It's a curiosity, and not much more. Can't give it 1 star, so here's 2 to honor the creators for their creativity.
I'm just not getting how this could be a nearly 5 star, editor's choice app. It's not a bad app, but I wouldn't consider it to be amazing by any means. The cards are repetitive, the mazes and running are EXTREMELY unenjoyable because you can never figure out where you're going and where you're supposed to go. You always end up not finding anything and dying to either a skeleton or a trap or a river. I believe you just have to play longer and you'll eventually get to better cards. I'm at 1100 and not much had happened. Just really disappointing to be honest. Thought it would be more of a you reigning over your kingdom and building it rather then saying yes or no to the same cards over and over again and dying after 15-30 yrs. It's just an extremely repetitive game that loses its luster and appeal VERY quickly. Really disappointed actually
