Excellent task management app
I was searching for something that would replace TaskPaper after its developers stopped supporting it for iOS. The only app that comes close is RTM. In some ways it's far superior. The sliding panel metaphor for the ipad works very well and allows you to have an overlay of information about a task as you drill down. The interface is clear and user-friendly. Even without a comparable syncing website it is still, I think, a 5 star app.
The list of positives is long for me: unlimited notes for each task, quick task add anywhere, the postpone feature is nice, you can sync with a website when you are away from your device, search for past tasks is highly customizable, save specific searches for frequent use, tags allow you to search for an item by categories you choose, lists are also great, and you can archive tasks. You can group tasks by location, too, though I have not used that feature yet.
It would be helpful to add pop-up alerts for critical tasks. I would like to see some theme customization ability, though its not essential. The most glaring shortcoming is the website which is hard to read and difficult to use. The yearly syncing fee of $25 is very high. Until the website is improved I see little incentive to consider that upgrade.
Final analysis, its a great task management app. So why is it not listed on the Productivity Featured Apps page? I never see it listed on the Best of productivity lists either. It should be.
Versatile List App
I switched over to this List app because the one I was using on my iPhone wasn't available for my iPad. While there are always growing pains switching from something you know and like, I've found this to be a very capable and versatile list program. In some ways it's very robust, allowing you to set due dates and tag items in various ways and the like, although it's so robust that you actually have to do more work to make it simple. For instance, it assumes you want a due date, but if you're only making a list of things to do sometime, you have to specifically tell it no due date for each item in the list. I also like to see my progress visually. Here, it allows you to mark items complete, but it then removes it from the active list and places it in a duplicate list that shows all your completed items. Again, overall, not that big of a deal -- mostly just style/preference. Overall, I think this is a great program with lots of capability. Definitely recommend it.
This is perfect for the “single action” list
I have dozens of single action items to do every day. This is great to get them done. Notifications are through email, twitter or the app. Summaries are sent every morning. I like the “moo” sound it makes. I had one problem, emailed the developers and in 10 minutes I had a fix. This is simple, quick and works all the time. I love this and use it many times a day. Thank you.
Just a comment on LLL2012: Put phone numbers and links in the notes section. They become live and clickable. You can sort by priority, due date or task name. Yes, you have to save the title of the task before you add a note, but I am usually pasting something so it gives me a chance to go get it. I do rapid fire entering of tasks, then when they are all in I tweak them. Works for me.
