Been running for 2 years with no problem
I currently use a very fast Windows 7 desktop computer at home, and iPhone, and iPad, and a Windows laptop for remote access. I have Comcast TV with HD using a cable card and the HD homerun prime. This app has been amazing. We can schedule recordings when we are on the go because we use the media center app on the Windows 7 computer. We can watch from iPad, iPhone, or laptops wherever we are. When we are on vacation, we often use the laptop hooked up to a television via HDMI. Since the desktop and our Internet connection are very fast, we can stream full HD to any place that has a good Internet connection. Everything works!
Note that you do need to have a piece of software installed on the computer at your house called the server software for this to work properly. It does take a little bit of configuration, but nothing too tough. I also recommend DDNS account to help make remote access easier.
I suspect the one star ratings are from people who either don't know how or didn't take the time to set up the software.
I have found the software on my computer and on my iPhone to be exceedingly stable.
One other note. The software does not allow you to stream protected content. So, if you record something from HBO, you may not be able to watch it over remote potato. I think this is due to legal requirements.
Junk. Keep looking.
Constant freezing. Click to see a folder and it freezes. Click to go back and that freezes. Click back again and it works. Click to see the folder now and it works. Click a thumbnail to see the picture and it freezes. Click back and it freezes.
I downloaded the previous version - Remote Potato HD. No freezing issues at all, but the photo viewing is unusable. Click a thumbnail to see the photo. Photo pops right up. Everything snappy. Now click "done" to go back and nothing happens. No way to go back out from the photo except to shut the app, remove it from memory, and launch the app again.
I could not delete these two garbage products from my mini fast enough. I want a refund.
I love this app. Works perfectly.
I watch my Windows Media Center with this app both when at home and when away from my house. Why would so many give it a bad score? I think they don't understand how to install the server app that is needed. Don't know what I'd do without thus app. Love, love, love it.
