Great except deters melodic listening, thinking
A potentially fun and useful app for eye ear play training. 3 pads light up and play in a rhythmic sequence. Goal is to play back the same sequence in rhythm. The pads are melodic.
The problem is that the shape of the melody that is played bears no relationship to the layout of the pads, and the note for each pad can be completely different each time the pad plays within a sequence. Thus, it trains the ear to ignore the pitch being played (although the ear must listen to the rhythm) and only rely on the visual representation of the pad sequence.
As a pianist, this added to the challenge of the game (not a bad thing in itself), but I would discourage the use of this game for any of my students, precisely because trains the student to ignore pitch in the listening - not something I want my students to do!
Would be excellent IF
The "featured" option ( Difficulty Level, Instruments option, etc.) Weren't Locked. Seriously, I'm supposed to pay money to "second chances" to tap the same sequence over and over? If that was how a GAME on enjoying rhythm or even with the purpose to learn*, then Give the option to pay to unlock the darn difficulty levels..
Otherwise I'd love this "game" very much. I even use it as tool when I'm stressed, and it helps as a peaceful way ... almost as if it a 'decompression mode' to put you're mind in ( if technology cold implement such a button..)
I like this app but I really wish the color sequence dots were at the top of the screen. The dots get covered up, sometimes, when I'm tapping out the beats. It's awkward and annoying.
