Ratings and Reviews
On an unironic level , I get what this game is trying to do. It's a parody of all these cookie clickers flooding the store. And that's great. However, it feels like this game forgets that it's a parody at some point because the incentive to spend 3 bucks on it gets higher the more you play since there's no real progress or incentive to keep going. After a few thousand balloons you no longer get "achievements" and things just become a drag. Also, the boosts only last for a few seconds but take a very long time to unlock and use. I was very disappointed the first time I spent a good 10 minutes earning the fast balloon boost, then another 10 minutes to be able to use it , only to find out that the boost only lasts 10 seconds or so.
This game has a lot of potential if it could start giving some actual rewards for playing it. Right now , all it's got going for it are the ironic reviews praising it much more than it should be. If this game didn't have the Adult Swim R&M logo on it nobody would even give it a second glance.
The Work of our Generation
The release of this app will soon be regarded as the start of meaningful human history. All human work up until now has been a cumulative effort towards this be-all-end-all of video games. It is the alpha, I simply hope the omega is yet to come. The graphics are truly a sight to behold. Absolutely unique in every brushstroke, yet hauntingly familiar. It is easy to lose oneself for hours in the beauty of this game, and it leaves something to be desired in our very real existence. The storytelling is sublime. It walks you through the masterfully wound plot with a brisk pace, moving through every small detail, yet not exhausting. What really shines is the way all these characteristics are woven together; it seems as if these are all ancient elements stumbled upon by chance and miraculously fit together in a way we are not ready to understand.
It's Like Voltaire Made an App
At first you'll think it's hilarious. A cute trinket from a fun show. Then the frightening philosophical poignancy will dawn when you realize that all games are Jerry's Games. No one plays games they can't best, the other games just have more adornments, more tinsel shrouding the fact that they are only mildly more complex than Jerry's Game but ultimately rely on the exact same system of feedback, praise and constructed illusion of capability. Hell some peoples' entire jobs, relationships and lives are Jerry's Games. Indeed most peoples'. But then, then you'll find it existentially soothing to understand your own needs so deeply. And you will pop those balloons. And you will love the simple promise of your human simplicity fulfilled.
