This is strangely my favorite app

This app is my absolute favorite thing i've downloaded to my phone. I cannot explain the ease and helpfulness this app has created. I recently started college in DC and I had never lived alone in a city, let alone a confusing one like DC, however this simple app has made all the difference. I can easily find the nearest metro station as well a the quickest route within seconds and even more outstanding than that, I can send the directions to people in a concise, clear text or email. However I was most impressed when I recently discovered the walking directions as well. If I am far away from a metro stop this wonderful app offers me walking directions there! I am so happy with this app and I strongly encourage this metro app over others for anyone new to DC, or even someone who needs a little refreshing!!

Probably still the best app for DC metro

Latest update: The best way to plan my metro travel in DC. I've tried quite a few apps and this one is the best. Again I wish they used the official metro map that would be easier to tap on but the function of this app is superior. Be wary of real-time train arrivals, I think WMATA has some issues with reporting data.

Update 2: works great. I wish they'd make the map bigger, but very effective way to plan trips on metro. Now suggests when walking from F West to F North is quickest way. Nice. Developer says when real times are wrong it's because of WMATA info, which makes sense.

Update: several versions ago the map was changed and it's now the main way to access stations directly. The map is too small and should be more like the official map. Also having periodic problems getting real time arrival info. Developer says its on the WMATA data side, but overall reliability is worse.

I used to bookmark the wmata trip planner and train arrivals web pages--no more. This app does it all: trip planning, train arrivals, status info, maps. It even shows metro info from twitter. Highly effective and works well. Attractive interface design. Some may not like the non-standard metro map, but it works fine. I would easily pay $1-2 for this app, maybe more.

Best planning function of the metro apps

I tried 3 other top ranking metro apps in an attempt to simply find a metro route between two stations without having to look at the whole darned metro map to find the stations.
The others either won't let you map unless you are standing in a station, or don't give directions at all.
This one lets you chose any two stations + departure time, and will show you the route, transfers, and all expected times.
Thank you for covering the critical requirement.
I think the others are for people who already know their commuter route and just want to geek out on precision. For new destinations or new riders who want to plan ahead, who cares if you can track the train to a split second arrival if you don't even know which station you need?
