Lame -- weak definition of "duplicate" and dismal user interface
My mistake -- I purchased without looking carefully enough. Notice that the links in the product page identify a very different product. Don't waste your money. If you do, be prepared to do a lot of work yourself.
I mistakenly assumed that this was the same product advertised on thier web page. This product only identifies dupolicates in your iTunes library -- it does not help find missing album art or help to organize your iTunes library. Unfortunately, it doesn't even do a good job of identifying duplicates. The definition of dupicates is trivial -- same artist, same album, same song title. Several albums in my collection have multiple versions of a song with the same title. Rinse found these without even noticing that the songs had different track numbers.
All of this wouldn't be so bad if they had a decent interface for comparing duplicates. They didn't even bother to do this. You can tag "duplicate" songs and then you get the pleasure of creating a smart playlist with tagged songs. Once you've done that, you can search through your library to find both "duplicates" and decide what to do, if anything.
Duplicates gone! Life changed
Awesome! I'd grown used to living with the extra music. Shuffle seemed to repeat the same song again and again on my commute. Not any more. Sweet app - it found 897 duplicate songs on my home computer and moved them out of iTunes to another directory (I just deleted this after I got over my paranoia that there might be more than just duplicates in there).
Works slick and non destructively. You don't have to delete them one at a time like some other have said. You have them all moved out of your library immediately during the 'rinse' or have the word Duplicate added to the comments column in iTunes, so you can search for all the items with Duplicate in them and then delete them all at once.
It DOES have instructions! Click the the 'More Rinse' button and you get a step my step walk through with thorough explanations.
I was seriously concerned about trying this app after reading the one negative review on the app store, but honestly every one of their concerned was unfounded.
