I hope EA reads this..
I have been an avid Risk player for years, and was truly excited to see there was a Risk app. I purchased it with the expectations of playing online, earning achievements and conquering the world, but sadly my expectations were apparently too high. After I completed the tutorial I wanted to get started right away playing online, until I realized the ability to do so is so limited, it would never happen. A simple solution is to make it a turn based game instead of a real-time game so we can play others from around the world. At this point I was frustrated, but had not lost hope. I went into single player knowing there were achievements to earn (which is a must for games with me), so I got to work. After my first game against AI players, I went to check my medals and see what all there was, only to be highly disappointed. Having only 3 categories with extremely easy degrees of difficulty are not what any gamer looks for when they are trying to earn accolades. I don't have a big issue with the ads, but I must agree that since I paid for this, it should be ad free all together. I enjoy risk, and I will continue playing on hard until this game updates, or I lose interest in doing the same thing over and over. Please fix this EA!
Great, only thing missing is true multiplayer
I like everything about the way this is constructed. Never thought Risk would be playable on an iPhone, but this App's design is very logical and easy to see on a small screen. Having a blast so far, but the potential is still there for this to be the ultimate experience if players weren't restricted to having to be on the same wifi to play each other. It would be so crazy to play with 5 other real people in different parts of the country over a period of several weeks, where I do my turn, then George plays his turn the next day when he has some free time, etc. Imagine the implications of playing people in other countries even! In addition to playing against your friends, you could use a Quick Match feature that could be randomized to vary the different countries playing against each other. So I, an American, could potentially be playing against someone in Japan, Australia, AND Germany. That would just be too cool. This shouldn't be that hard to develop, and even if it were, I would buy the Pro upgrade in a heartbeat to do that stuff.
Also, would love to see the option to play Same-Time Risk like in the old computer version.
Good Game. No problems with dice as others claim
This is a fun game and I saw no problems with it. The AI could be smarter though - for instance, there were some times it would have been easy for the computer to take away my continent but it chose not to do so. More importantly, there are many times the computer could have easily finished off another computer player and taken its cards, but it chose some other objective instead (like retake its own continent). I find that stupid since with the extra cards it would capture from finishing off another player, it could have done both.
Anyway, it was fun with no major issues. Others reported unrealistic dice results. That is not the case. Most of the time they behaved as one would expect. Sometimes the results were surprising (like 1 army would take out 5-10 opposing armies). But it didn't happen against me more often than it worked for me. And anyone who's played the board game can attest, such things do happen in real life, just rarely. Maybe once or twice per game. Same here.
