Playable, but would benefit from a version tailored for the iPad
This app was originally developed for the iPhone, and the author deserves kudos for a solid job of translating the IRL game into a fairly intuitive format. If I were just rating the iPhone version, I'd give it a 4 because I think it would be challenging to do better with such a small screen.
However, I'm basing my review on the iPad version (which is just the iPhone version in 2x on the iPad), since I've only had the experience of playing it on an iPad. It's a shame that the extra screen space isn't being used to it's full potential, as it would reduce the clunkiness of repeatedly tabbing through pages. I was constantly forgetting which developments I had already purchased, how much food I had, and the quantity & value of my goods. It would be convenient to have this information available at a glance at the bottom of the iPad screen.
Another feature I'd like to see added (both iPhone & iPad) is the ability to undo all of the discarded goods for that turn, so that a different choice can be made.
In summary, it's a good IRL game that was translated into a good iPhone app, but it's just OK on the iPad. The play experience would be dramatically improved for the iPad if the app took advantage of the larger screen space available.
Addicting, but needs tweaks
I owned the board game first, but having it on the iPad/Touch has me playing all the time. Love the game and the award challenges set up for solo play. Now on to the tweaks that would make it perfect.
Needs a "new game" button on the Overview page so you don't have to go back, back, back...
Disasters aren't recorded accurately in the overview - shows disasters I didn't encounter, and not some that I did.
I have moved on to the "Feed" stage with a message that says I have enough food..only to be penalized for not having enough food.
Resume game shows completed games.
On the iPad only, the game starts in the tutorial mode every time I start RTtA even though I set the tutorial to off the previous time I played. - It also always starts at game 8 and counts up games by 2.
The score tally next to "Overview" at the top never shows total score.
Looking forward to an update - and maybe a true iPad version?
Great game but ...
These board game knock offs that have been coming out a lot lately and some of them are great ...
This one is no exception but I wish developers would get on the bandwagen and make it playable with your friends on the internet via email or just open play ... They would sell so many more copys!!
None of my friends are big fans of scrabble but because it has an "email" style play we all have a copy of it. (thats 12 of us) and im sure that goes the same for lots of people with lots of these sytle games ...
Great game but please get some multi-player support other then "hot-seat"
