A different kind of drumsynth. Ruismaker Noir presents a hybrid approach between synthesized drums and rhythmic bass sounds - coming together in the fully integrated step sequencer. Throw in a nasty, dirty personality and you get something really new for the iOS platform.
Although Noir has a monophonic synthesis engine, the clever interplay with the sequencer and plethora of pitch/velocity modulation options can make it sound like many different sounds are playing, seamlessly blending into each other.
- AUv3 (Audio Unit) plugin, with integrated sequencer
- Basic standalone mode for tinkering or preset creation*
- Universal; runs on any iDevice with iOS10 or higher
- All parameters accessible via MIDI CC and AU Params
- AU MIDI output from sequencer (requires iOS11+)
- Fullscreen plugin GUI in all compatible hosts
- Modest CPU and resource loads
- Handcrafted in the Netherlands
User manual available on ruismaker.com
* note: the basic standalone mode does not offer connectivity. Use the AUv3 plugin mode for complex setups with multiple apps and synchronization requirements.
A minor fix for unusual behavior of the sequencer-transport in Garageband and Modstep.

Again, another great app
Just wanted to say thanks, and that on a 3rd gen IPad Pro, you are one of, or possibly the only developer that is good enough that all of your apps are FULLY functional, I’ve wasted like 200 bucks on apps that half/don’t work at all on new devices/ios12. You give me hope that I didn’t waste 1400 bucks on an IPad that I mainly got for mobile audio production. Moog pooped the bed, sugarbytes pooped the bed, and so did most others, there are few apps that are fully functional and don’t have audiobus zombie background use and 70% cpu usage. I seriously have to hard reset brand new IPad after attempting to use 30 dollar apps.
Thanks again keep it up, cuz you totally win at this point in the app game. You made higher paid devs look completely incompetent.
Nasty, gritty patterns
Super unexpected, this is a great rhythm app. It’s really not a drum app. Make sure you use this in a host like apematrix or aum
Not up to par with professional drum apps yet!
Was hoping for ableton link + midi support in the update. Really disappointed! Have to keep using it to half of its real potential as an AU.
For the record, some live musicians use real guitar pedals with ruismaker and ruismaket fm. Not with this one, because it won’t sink with anything else as standalone, not even bram bos apps!
Developer Response ,
The app description is clear about the limited functionality of the standalone app. Anyone requiring sample-accurate synchronization, multi-app or multi-instance setups or MIDI routing should consider running this app as an Audio Unit Extension, which gives you all the benefits of standalone (including the sequencer and fullscreen mode) using less resources, seamless synchronization, automatic state saving and higher resolution AU Parameter support. This should also be the best option for "real guitar pedals".
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
