Running Cadence is a simple metronome application for runners. Just enter the desired cadence in beats per minute, select a sound, switch it on and start running.
The app can be configured to sound once for every other footfall (left, RIGHT, left, RIGHT,...) or can it can adjust to sound every third footfall (left, right, LEFT, right, left, RIGHT,...) to avoid emphasizing one foot.
Cadence slows when phone locks
This app is fairly basic which I like. However, when you lock the phone the cadence slows dramatically! This makes it worthless if you lock the phone. So you have a choice; lock the phone and not use the app or leave the phone unlocked and run down the battery.
Note: I tried clicking "Report a Problem" but the developer's site says, "Sorry, that page was not found." More example of poor attention to detail.
I use this with Runmeter, and it runs in the background if I keep Runmeter in always-on mode so my phone doesn't go to sleep. It defaults to 85, which means each foot hits 85 times/min. Ideal is 85-95. The reviewer who wants more than 120 is confused. One criticism - the beat wanders a bit, especially if you pull out your phone to check your pace or switch between aps.
It's just okay
Download because it's simple and for runners. Works fine when screen is active. Cadence/ tempo changes when sleep mode is engaged. Deleted app because I want to use it with my phone in my pocket in sleep mode. Doesn't work that way. But, if you don't mind leaving your screen active, it might work for you.
