"Runtime is just flat out better than the old way." - InPoint

From the sleaziest reality show to prestige Hollywood feature films, Runtime simplifies the workflow of editors everywhere. Throwing out the decades old "timecode calculator" model, Runtime does only the tasks post-production professionals need most – with none of the other cruft. Keep track of act times. Calculate what percentage each act is of the total. Figure total run time, total content time, and how far over or under time the project is.

Runtime is an easy and fun way to keep track of your film, tv or radio project.

• calculate Total Runtime or Total Content Time
• automatically figures how over or under time a project is
• visually see your timings with the bar graph
• email timings to co-workers with one tap
• support for multiple projects
• 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 59.94 and 60 fps all supported (59.94 dropframe in beta)
• the least annoying timecode entry you'll find in the App Store!
• timer for timing segments live on set
• a no-nonsense tool for professionals

Editors, producers, preditors, and post supervisors all over the world have embraced Runtime's simple solution to a complex problem.

PLEASE NOTE: Runtime was created for editors who add times together to get a total. Need timecode multiplication? Timecode division? Runtime isn't for you.

Ratings and Reviews

Should be a REQUIRED part of an Editor's Toolkit

I've worked as a professional television producer or editor for over 30 years, and producing timing sheets is a very common part of the process. In the past, friends and I have cobbled together Excel spreadsheets that would "kinda-sorta" did the things that Runtime does. Having a dedicated program like Runtime, all I do is simply plug in the network clock's target timings, then as each act is complete, I update the rundown. The email function is an added bonus as it keeps my producer informed on the show's project, and notifies them when I have completed work on a section, with an updated timing. The author of this app (Geoff) also happens to be an editor-- I had a small learning curve issue and he promptly and personally got me back on the right track. As another reviewer posted, best $3 bucks I ever spent. I probably got my investment back on the first day with the time I saved... definitely worth the purchase!!

Helpful as always if you don't have to calculate commercial breaks...

When I first installed runtime I was on a show where I had to calculate acts and non standard breaks for the commercials, (this was last year) one commercial break would be 2min 15 sec another 3min 02 sec
So I couldn't use Runtime how I wanted. This year, different show I don't have to worry about commercial breaks and use Runtime to confirm show timings. I input the info that's on the slate and watch the show down, referencing my phone with runtime that everything matches up.
It still would be great if Runtime could calculate with nonstandard breaks (feature request)
It would also be great if the Goal time can be put back in the screen info, I believe it was removed in this update. I jump around different projects and it's great to see the goal time under the content time, please put it back when you can!!!
Those two requests said its a very helpful app!!!!!

Timey Wimey

I hate keeping track of segment times, or act lengths in relation to a whole. These days if I am allowed to have an asst ed I make them do it. But they just use a widget or an online calculator and then track it on paper. Or worse they try to use the tools in FCP to do it. Which we all know can be a pain/mess/headache.

Happy to have a tool that pretty much takes care of all that. I have a few quibbles but runtime is far and away the best most thought through app of this kind I have used. At $2.00 I might not even charge production back for it.
