SAFE App answers the question, “Have you been tested for STDs”? - TechCrunch
The SAFE App lets you privately show your verified STD status on your phone, and confirm the status of your partners. SAFE is also the easiest and least expensive way to get tested for STDs.
-- SHOW YOUR STATUS --
• Import your STD test results from any doctor, clinic, or lab (for free!)
• Confirm your partner's status privately. Your status is ONLY displayed on the screen of your phone when you choose to show it.
-- FAST AND EASY STD TESTING --
*Skip the doctor and schedule STD tests at nearby labs, over 75,000 locations across the country
*Cheapest STD test on the market, so you can get tested regularly without breaking the bank
*Only $99 out-of pocket. Or use insurance and your STD test is FREE (or just your co-pay)*
-- PRIVATE AND SECURE --
SAFE App is fully HIPAA-compliant and uses the same security technologies as leading healthcare systems.
More than an App, SAFE is a movement to end the spread of STDs in our lifetime.
HIV, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hep-C, Herpes (optional)
With STD rates at an all-time high in the U.S., it’s not enough to ask your partner whether or not they’ve been tested. You need to ask “Are you SAFE?”
Are you safe? Prove it.
SAFE: Sexual Accountability For Everyone
Remember: SAFE App is not a failsafe. But used with condoms and common sense, it may reduce your risk of contracting an STD.
Minor bug fixes and improvement.

Has a lot of work to do
Impossible / annoying sign in process where u have to verify phone number.... and then when u make it to the end, you get a surprise that you ALSO have to verify email. If you enter in email wrong or didn’t want to share your real email like me, you can never access the app, since your phone number is permanently saved to the incorrect email and there’s no way to change it
It’s not unreasonable for people to not want to share their email AND phone number before even seeing what the app has to offer. Maybe make it necessary for an account if you actually want to order a test not for people checking it out hoping not to get flooded with spam?
Hi there! We're working on making the sign-up process faster, however our biggest priority is keeping your health records secure and private. SAFE is HIPAA Compliant and we have implemented extra security measures to verify that you really are who you say you are - which is why your real email and phone are required. We are adding the option to update your email soon, but in the meantime contact us through safeapp.me and we'll make sure your account is unlocked asap!
Ok when insurance is syncing
The first time I utilized this app, my insurance synced no problem, I went and got tested, and voila, I had results. The next two times, my same insurance information says unable to verify and they want me to pay for testing! This is frustrating and it’s not like I have an obscure insurance plan. It’s one of the biggest and most accepted. Please fix! Also, Quest doesn’t know how to find their information the majority of the time when visiting. Maybe look at partnering with another facility?
Easy, Private and Secure
This app made it incredibly easy for me to get tested. I didn’t have to go through my doctor and I was able to go directly to a clinic. I submitted the bill to my insurance company and I had no problem. Now I don’t have to worry about my status and I can share my STD results with confidence with my partner right from my phone. Why didn’t someone think of this sooner??
