What's New in Version 5.0.3
We’ve redesigned the navigation to simplify your experience. Coupons and Deals are now right up front, Rewards now have their own page, and there’s a new My Store page.
We value your feedback and want to improve the app for you, so please send us suggestions and comments by tapping on the My Store tab and selecting Feedback.
Why make it so hard
Not only do you have to select offers in order to get the best price on things, now you have to go through 2 separate times in order to assure you get the best prices on:
1. Advertised specials
2. Just for you offers
Before the last update you could select "see all offers".
I find it ridiculous that you have to do anything, besides using your club card/phone number, to get the best possible price on items, with three last update you have to WASTE even more of your time. Too bad we don't have another large chain grocery store within 60 miles, I'd switch to a different store in a second. Why do they MAKE customers go through all this CRAP just to get the best price? It makes no sense to make it difficult for their customers to get the best price. On top of that, you also need to check the paper ad to find every sale because they may not have a particular sales price in the app at all. Why would a store intentionally make shopping there more difficult? Also there's no longer any way to contact them through the app - no wonder!
New update, same old major problem
J4U and the Weekly Ad are now completely separate sections. You can search All Offers but can't view All Offers on one page. And because they're separate sections, you have to sift through each category twice (Deli under J4U and Deli again under Weekly Ad, there's no overlap). The info icon is in different locations depending on the viewing settings (upper right vs. bottom left). You used to just be able to click anywhere in the item box to get the info to pop up. A single tap anywhere inside the item box seems way easier and much more logical. And Safeway still hasn't fixed the My Offers/My List issue. They're still combined into one, which means your grocery list is still 600-items long. They continue to make the app more awkward, unwieldy and time consuming to use with each update.
The app is mostly useful to me when I can add items to my card and my list (since I only add the things I intend to buy that week). But now the category headings disappear when you start to scroll through the items. You must then have to scroll all the way back up to close the category and keep your window manageable. I wouldn't use the app if it weren't for the J4U. One nice feature that I just discovered is the scan feature that allows you to scan a barcode with your phone to see if there are any deals related to that item. That feature may have been there before this new update. It's marginally useful because our store is pretty reliable in labeling items in the shelf.
