Sales Tax Tracker helps you save money on your taxes
Our App allows you to
1) Snap a picture of your receipt on any purchase you make with sales tax
2) Track the item and amount spent
3) Save a copy of the receipt
The App will create a CSV file with date, time, and amount of sales tax paid. It also saves the picture of your receipt.
The App also allows you to back up your receipts to a cloud based storage service for you to download to your computer and present to your tax preparer.
If you file a Form 1040, and itemize deductions on Schedule A, you have the option of claiming either state or local income taxes you paid or state and local sales taxes you paid (you can’t claim both). If you saved your receipts throughout the year, you can add up the total amount of sales taxes you actually paid and claim that amount.
Every state has different rules for deducting sales tax talk to your tax advisor to see which option is best for you.

Not worth the price
This app needs a lot of work and the price for what it can do is simply outrageous. The app can only grab receipts by taking a picture. It should also be able to grab electronic receipts via screenshots but it does not. Also, you must enter a description and the tax amount manually for each receipt. It should be that hard to have a text recognition feature that could grab the vendor name and tax amount with also the ability to edit those fields if the user wants them to say something else. Great app idea but definitely needs a lot of work to justify the price.
Developer needs to launch fixes
Other reviewers note problems that are all still true. As of Feb 2017, you cannot include a screenshot, easily fix a data entry, and the running total is off if you do make a mistake. Nice additions would be if the app would auto import some of the fields.
For $10, please add some fixes. If you are considering, do not buy unless others specify these fixes are in place.
My main issue so far is if there is a way to edit it if you entered a mistake. I put the decimal spot in the wrong place and now my running total is way higher than what it is supposed to be
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
