Not the right time to move


SAP CRM Mobile sales and all the productivity apps can be used for demo purpose, but not for productive usage yet. Basic CRM functionallity is missing, industry specific or customer specific functionality cannot be used. Customer specific enhancement is possible at minimal level.
Each new version coming out requires an updated SUP and DOE which causes a heavy upgrade project.

The technology below is a big zoo:
Offline apps with SAP Backend: MBO with additional middleware NetWeaver mobile DOE
Offline apps without SAP Backend: MBO with webservice
Native online apps: odata with additional sap gateway server - inappropriate for non sap backend systems
Online Html5 apps: Sybase SDK with webservice/rfc
Proprietary data security protocol that is blocked in firewalls
hundreds of unanswered questions if you deep dive intro it.

Installation, administration and own development causes huge effort.
Powerpoints and a presales messages do not fit reality.

Our opinion: not the right time to move. Start with other technologies.
The mobile SAP plattform is not the one to invest yet.

Slick app.... Certainly is a lot easier and faster to do everything I do in CRM from the app vs my desktop

Even SAP is not running their "CRM Sales" internally but an own developed app. Without SUP - just calling webservices.
Clever and simple...

Ask the right questions and be surprised about the answers...

This SUP is a oversized, complex and expensive mess. Try to find the value that it really adds compared to other technologies. And do not forget the overall price for licenses, administration, development, trainings, hardware,...

None of the productivity apps are good for productive use. A mobile standard app cannot integrate with a highly customized backend system.
