SAToolz for DIRECTV
By Michael Berg
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
The SAToolz for DIRECTV Satellite Finder makes it easy to determine the best location to setup your DIRECTV satellite dish or DIRECTV mobile satellite dish. This application will quickly allow you to determine if you have line of sight at your current location.
This app allows you to see if there are any obstructions in the way prior to placing your dish such as trees or buildings.
Use this app when camping, RV'ing, tailgating or at home. Use it anytime you need to know if those tree's, buildings or any type of obstacle might be in the way.
The following DIRECTV satellites are supported: 95°w, 99°w, 101°w, 103°w, 110°w and 119°w.
This is accomplished by using the iPhones built in video camera with an overlay of all the DIRECTV residential satellites as dots in the sky.
To use, simply point your iPhone towards the southern sky and see on the live video screen. The DIRECTV satellites will show up as red dots as you move the video camera around, allowing you to quickly and easily determine if there are any obstructions in the way, like trees or buildings.
- See the satellites move on the screen with live video, everything is realtime.
- Use it anywhere!!! Doesn't require cell service or Internet connectivity.
- Simple and fast, requires no technical knowledge or configuration to use.
This software allows you to see if satellite reception is plausible at your current location and is not intended to help align your dish.
When using this application the iPhones internal compass is used to help locate satellites in the sky. It is extremely important that this software is used outdoors away from objects that can cause interference to the compass. Any compass interference will cause the satellites to move sporadically. Please avoid using this software by any object that can cause magnetic interference.

What's New in Version 2.1
Thanks for using SAToolz!
- Newly redesigned user interface!
- More accurate than ever!
I bought the app. No satellites showed up. I was angry. Went to app Facebook page and saw there were issues with iPhone 6s that had been corrected with software update. Updated phone to 9.2.1 and satellites magically appeared. Couldn't be happier. This will take the guess work out of my job. Best 4.99 I've spent in App Store. Wish At&t would have paid for it though!
I hate you!
Some reviews have me hope that this would work. NOPE. I can find the satellites but they're completely in the wrong position. I can shake my phone a certain way and get them to show up close to the location but how can I trust this for anywhere other than my house. I was in the middle of my yard with nothing around me. My iPhone compass app was spot on (which is what this app claims to use). Please come out with an update to fix this or refund everyone's money.
Works for me
After reading the negative reviews I was skeptical. However I figured for $4.99 I didn't have that much to lose. I purchased the app opened it and pointed to the sky. The Direct TV satellites immediately showed up. I like it.
