Works better than expected!
I rarely leave reviews. I have to absolutely love or loathe something. This one, I LOVE. I'm a writer on tight deadlines. While I only write on my computer, I always have spiral notebooks filled with ideas jotted down on the run, or at night in bed, etc. Including notes for series I'm working on.
Usually, I'd have to manually transcribe them into my laptop later, and worry what would happen if the notebook got lost/destroyed before then. I spent less than an hour scanning in nearly 40 pages of notes with my iPad. PERFECT. Uploaded as a .pdf to Dropbox, downloaded it to my laptop, and imported the .pdf into my project on Scrivener for reference.
One thing I loved, some of the pages I could have set up in black and white, and on pages where I'd used different-colored pens, I could set just those pages for color.
Now I can get all my notes scanned in, complete my redundant back-ups, and never have to worry about losing anything except my most recent notes. Or I can jot stuff down on a sticky note or whatever, and scan it in.
You have NO idea how much this has simplified my life in terms of compiling all my materials into one location.
I can also see where this app would be great for people needing to scan receipts, mileage reports, etc. and will probably be using it to help keep track of my writing-related expenses as well.
I use this application regularly to convert receipts and other bits of paper into PDFs that are then automatically uploaded to my Dropbox folders without any work on my part.
Example: I'm on a business trip and the car rental place gives me a receipt that I need to save. Rather than dealing with the hassle of not losing the receipt or wrinkling it too much not the plane, I immediately use Scanner Pro to take a picture of it and then I'm done. Scanner Pro makes it into a PDF and uploads it to Dropbox and when I get home from the trip, all my receipts are sitting on my desktop ready to be emailed to my manager or accountant.
I do the same for my kids school papers. So when something comes up, I don't need to go looking around the house for the paperwork; I know exactly where I need to look to find the document.
This app maintains a place on the 1st page of my home screen.
An added bonus is for the rare times you're dealing with someone that makes you fax them something, there's an in-app purchase to fax.
I would like to see...
To start I would like to say that I love this app. It is helpful in the organization of all that I read and cite. The reason for the 4 stars rather than five is due to some additions I would like to see.
1. Maybe add a highlighter option. I would like to be able to highlight a specific part of a passage for emphasis on what is being quoted. One color (yellow) is fine.
2. This one could be complicated to enact. Sometimes I see something that I would like to scan, but it is ending on one page and starting on another. It would be great if there was a way to combine these into one scan so as to keep the passage together rather than in two separate images.
3. I like the folder options as I can separate passages from different texts, but if I don't scan the document where it will be added to a previous scan, it shows as one rather than multiple so I can't scroll through them nor can I add them to another scan in the same folder. I would like to be able to do so, so that I may reorganize as I see fit within a specific folder.
Thank you for you time.
