Ratings and Reviews
Good—with a couple flaws
I am rather enjoying the app. I have an electronic subscription, but found I haven't been keeping up with reading the magazine since I've stopped receiving them in the mail. This app helps me to get back to reading every issue. I have found one bug so far and a little annoyance.
First for the bug. I am unable to share anything to social media. Every time I try to shave via Twitter, or Facebook the app crashes. So, effectively I can't share via social media.
Second the annoyance. If I close the app, when I re-open it I am taken to my library and not the article I was reading. I've tried downloading the issue to my phone, but the app still opens to my library. This app would be just about perfect if it saved my reading location. You can't really use the bookmark feature to save your issue progress, it basically puts a copy of the article on your phone. If you return to your bookmark you can't continue to the next article if the issue. This is fine as it allows you to keep certian articles handy regardless of the issue it was published in. I would just really appreciate being able to close the app and open it to where I left off.
It regularly forgets my subscription
About once every two months the app won’t add new issues, instead offering only “preview” or purchase options (though it remembers already-downloaded issues). A few emails with customer service eventually fixes the problem...and then a few to several weeks later, it happens again.
Better than a paper magazine but ...
... at least with a paper copy I can set the magazine down and it will not close itself and forget the page I was reading. My iPad version regularly forgets my current page requiring a search before continuing.
