SciFly: Dogfight is an action packed 3D aerial combat game for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Dominate the skies with missiles, machine guns, lasers, flak cannons and more. Explore lava oozing wastelands and Earth-like Utopias while flying a variety of specialized elite aircraft.
Engage with enemies fighters in both the Time Attack and Point Match battle modes. For every enemy you destroy, you will be rewarded with in-game credits. With these credits you can unlock new aircraft and upgrade their weapon and armor systems. If you do exceptionally well in a battle, you'll be rewarded with a large amount of bonus credits. There are 4 aircraft in all to unlock and upgrade.
If you collect enough credits, you can also unlock new planets to battle on While you first begin battling over the Utopia planet, you will later unlock the lava wasteland as well as an icy snow planet.
Each of the 4 aircraft are highly specialized. Each weapon system behaves in a unique way, so you will develop your own techniques to master each one. With the missile wielding Avenger, for example, you will want to approach from a distance and lock onto your target. However, with the flak-cannon wielding Gladiator, you will want to go full speed to get up close. This will allow you to blast your target away with a single well-placed shot.
SciFly's settings may be configured in the Settings app on your home screen, not in the game.
What's New in Version 1.4
*Fixed crashing problem
*Completely new menu design
*Added background music
Feels like a work in progress, but the developer appears to be responsive and has things planned, so that is a good sign. I like the credits concept to unlock things, and I hope to see more items available to purchase in a future update. The HUD could stand for some improvement, as flying is a bit of a chore now. A level indicator perhaps on the upper left that shows where the ground is would be great, as would a radar on the upper right to show where the bogeys are. Also, I would really like to see a calibration feature similar to Venger, so that I can play this at different angles. A worthwhile purchase.
Good game, two massive glitches
This is an awesome game, but I found two MASSIVE glitches in the update.
1. When you first download it, the accelerometer doesn't work until you adjust the sensitivity in the settings.
2. After playing a while with the update, I earned fifteen or so points in a match and it said that I had over two billion credits, I then checked the high scores and I was on top (with five others who have the exact same score) when I played another match and earned 7 credits, it didn't change, I have a feeling that the credits I have are the max amount.
The rest of this new update Is awesome though. Bring a fix and you get six stars. Totally get it if you like dogfight games but be wary of these glitches.
EDIT: with the release of 1.4, the sensitivity glitch was fixed, the score glitch was fixed by re-downloading the game. I give it 6 stars now.
Scifly is a very fun game. Now it's only fun for a little while but it is fun. The game has way to little content in it but it is only 99 cents. There was a cool idea of points as money to buy things like upgrades but come on you can get everything in couple minutes. There was also online leaderboards but they were cancelled and never brought back. All support seems to be gone for this game so if it glitches or crashes your screwed. However the first couple times you play are fun and the controls work well so I guess it's up to you what to do with this one.
