This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
Scoot is your shortcut to everywhere in the city. Grab one of our electric motor scooters using the app and activate it with your iPhone. You can ride it wherever you want in San Francisco and drop it off at any other Scoot location. The Scoot app unlocks your scoot and serves as your GPS and dashboard while you ride. Scoots plug into any wall outlet to recharge. No motorcycle license needed. Helmet included.
You must join Scoot and take a lesson (video or in-person) to use this app. You must be 21 years or older, have a clean and valid US driver's license, and live or work near San Francisco in order to join.
It's really easy to get scooting:
1. Download the Scoot app for iPhone here
2. Create an account and sign up for your first ride
3. After that, you're free to scoot all over town, whenever you want!

Good idea but needs some work
I love this idea of scoot and riding around was lots of fun, but the actual convenience of it isn't as great as I had hoped. Scoot's seem to hold very little charge which means you often have to park them in garages, however actually finding a garage that has an opening where you're going when you need to park is more than difficult. Also, the app lets you arrange swaps (i.e. You exchange a scoot with a low battery with a charged on in a garage) however you have to get there within 15 minutes which is nearly impossible but you have to commit to a parking place or exchange in order to take certain scoots. So basically you're screwed. I spend 40 minutes driving around trying to park and essentially ended up back where I started. They do have excellent customer service, however, and credited me for my terrible ride experience. With some work this has the potential to be really awesome.
Transportation's Latest Innovation
Scoot has completely changed my life. I can now travel almost anywhere in San Francisco quickly and cost effectively. Traffic is a breeze with these nimble scoots. The app makes getting anywhere super easy. I moved recently and one of my criteria was being close to a scoot charging station. When I go out of town I look forward to getting back to SF so I can scoot again - its fast, easy, and really fun!
Enjoyed the rides but just saw that the cost jumped from $3 to $4 per ride, without much improvements in rider experience. A Lyft Line or Uber Pool is now a better alternative. Need to rethink the pricing strategy, unless the geography has expanded.
Garages are tricky and one needs to spend time familiarizing yourself with your favorite ones in order to be time efficient, since you also need to take into account time taken to walk to an available bike.
