Toyota should just add CarPlay to 2018s

At this point, to save face, Toyota should just call it quits with Scout and find a way to add CarPlay to the 2018 Camry. I have little doubt that the Scout team is burning midnight oil to get it working. That’s certainly not an easy position to be in. But, it’s not working out. The app on the head unit got unbearably slow, as in “I click a button and get past three streets before it registers the click” Resetting the head unit to defaults does nothing to fix the slowness. Vehicle positioning is completely broken now, as admitted in the latest change-log. It was a good try on Scout’s part, but they should be the first to admit defeat and advise Toyota to save face with their customers and give us Apple CarPlay. If not, someone will inevitably take legal action.

Doesn’t even work

2017 Lexus IS... decided not to go with the Nav package because I rarely use any navigation. However, thought it be interesting to see if this works. Nope, it took almost a year before the software would finally update, and the app still won’t display in my vehicle. My phone shows the route but it won’t pop up on my display. Not only that but on the display says there is no network connection even though it’s obvious I have network connection. Needless to say, as the other reviews explain, this app is garbage and the Toyota Motor company could have done a lot better with their Connected Navi solution, especially for Lexus vehicles.

Worst App Ever

This is the worst piece of crap I have ever tried to use. Voice commands don’t yield relevant results. When I finally got it to display a desired destination, the only option was to telephone it, on a GPS? Apparently the developers didn’t consider the possibility that I might want directions to the place. I programmed the button to take me Home, but the app just thinks about it for a while then goes back to the main screen. I agree completely with another review — Toyota should bag it with Scout and figure out how to implement a GPS system that works. I’m considering replacing the Entune system in my 2017 Tacoma, perhaps that is a warranty issue.
