Ratings and Reviews
This programming app is interesting, but it's very basic. For Lua programming, Codea looks better.
Need a lot of work.
Very cool, but there are things you should know...
First: the full functionality of this app costs $20. Yeah, it's pricey for an iPad App, but it's cheap for such an elegant an intuitive way to experience programming, especially if you're a beginner.
Second: the language used is Lua, but you don't need to know any to start playing around and modifying things, and even creating your first custom apps.
Third: there is no direct way to publish an app written here to be used by others. That would, sadly, be a violation of Apple's rules for their apps, and is not the point of this app (as far as I can tell). I'm sure there is a work path that can lead from here to a full app.
This app is a very cool tool, but note that it is in the educational category. $20 is a cheap price for this introduction to programming and the interface shows us how valuable bringing a touch based interface would be to the world of development. If you're interested in learning to program, give this a shot.
For those who have stated that the developer was being sneaky by not listing the price: the first thing in the description is that you'll need to purchase in-app to open up the functionality. And if youre ever wondering about the price, click on the link! It won't charge you until you accept the price.
