Backing up can be done easily inside the home over a WiFi network. While outside the home backup via a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive over WiFi (where available) or via cellular data plan*. Simply install the Seagate Mobile Backup app on your mobile device and the Seagate Dashboard software on your computer to backup your Camera Roll. To allow for space to capture more memories, you can set the app to automatically delete the content from your cloud account once the back up has completed. Flaky App


I purchased the drive and Seagate backup/dashboard at Costco, So I feel the price for the 2TB External drive itself was reasonable – but the backup software is extremely unreliable and has only worked twice in six weeks. Almost every other time it returned a connection timeout error, even when my phone, the drive, and a brand-new router are all in the same room. Every other device works flawlessly with this router and Wi-Fi connection – so it doesn't make sense that the Seagate app has trouble maintaining a reliable connection.

The desktop backup is no better, but since that is handled by a Windows application and not an iOS App, I'll leave those comments out of this review.

Needs more consistent app updates

My mother bought me a 2TB drive for Christmas. It work amazing with my MacBook Pro. Unfortunately every time I try to sign in to the app with my login, I get the message “Login failed, Check your network and try again” I’ve tried 5 times. The App Store says this version works with my phone, but I don’t think it does. I’m disappointed with that. I will keep using my hard drive for my computer. I just hope the Tech Support team at Seagate sees this and are able to correct it for the future. I would hate for anyone else to spend the money on a hard drive for the mobile compatibility only to find out that it doesn’t work



I’ve had the 2T backup for some time now. It is very unreliable. It is ran via windows so I won’t discuss that.
The mobile app is Awful!! Doesn’t work often and now, as I write this, doesn’t work at all! It won’t let me log in. Keeps saying “login failed. Check your network”. I’ve done everything. I have my password and login saved in an app just so I won’t forget it. So that’s not the problem. I even tried to “register an account” (as if I never had an account) and that didn’t work either. Erased the app and downloaded it again and started over. STILL doesn’t work.
I’ll say it again...AWFUL APP!
