Seamless does a great job of self assessing and improvement. Ovet the years that I've used the app, every time I encounter an issue, a week later, they've noticed and addressed it without any provocation on my part. But above all, my the thing I am most grateful to Seamless for is what it's done regarding customer-restaurant relations. While before, we as consumers were at the mercy of the restaurant, as far as timely delivery and quality accountability are concerned. (By the way, I am a professional chef in manhattan.) While before, a delivery customer had no choice but to accept what was given to them, no matter the quality of the food, nor the time it took to arrive, now there is an acceptable standard. That's because there is now a third party to hold them accountable for poor execution and service. We have arrived at the dawn of a new age in the quality of laziness. Thank you Seamless.
Update Hurting App
The update that came with the latest iOS update has massively hurt this app, the entire purpose of the Seamless service is convenience, but much of that is fading. 1) Interface just generally frustrating, and I have never understood what mysterious metric the "default" restaurant sort can possibly be using that makes it so unchanging unhelpful, or that would justify making it the mandatory default. 2) The new app literally gives me fewer options and information when ordering. Even for restaurants that supply their specials info, the daily specials are now blank and require calling in for info, which is the opposite of the whole point. Options have also vanished from dishes' pop-up windows, and/or the number of options has been reduced. I don't mean that this has been changed by the restaurant---by comparing new and old apps side-by-side, I know the restaurant still provides information and options---Seamless just won't show me. It is a shame, this app has been a necessity, but now is a pain.
WORST business ever!!!!!
Their name should be HotMess, not seamless. My episode dealing with the company went as follows:
I order for online thru them. I get not one--but FOUR--confirmation texts and emails from them, stating my order will be ready for pickup "between 7:20 and 7:30 pm". I get right into the car and spend 25 min driving to the restaurant, plus try to find parking. I walk in, and the restaurant has ZERO evidence of my order. The restaurant is mad, blaming the fiasco on me. I get no texts nor emails from Seamless telling me my dinner order has been cancelled. I'm (obviously) hungry, so this is NOT good news.
Since PayPal had already given me confirmation of my payment for the food, I then spent the next 20 mins trying to resolve that & get reimbursed, before I could even order food elsewhere. And, believe me, I did so by calling the actual restaurant and paying in person, when I picked it up.
This company "Seamless" is a disaster of epic proportions. First and ONLY time I will EVER use "Seamless", which is anything but. What a HOT MESS!!!!!
