The timing screen has a large time display that can easily be read from a distance. It works in portrait or landscape. The current interval and next interval are displayed so you can see also what's up now and next. The entire background uses the current interval colour so you don't even need to read the name.

Seconds comes with templates for HIIT, Tabata and Circuit Training making it very easy to quickly create a timer for your workouts. If you require more advanced options, Seconds doesn't let you down. You can create completely custom timers one interval at a time, or even combine timers together to create compound timers.

Seconds supports Bluetooth heart rate sensors and allows you to configure the display to show your current heart rate and estimated calories burned during your training session.

The text to speech option will read out your interval names as you get to them, or even give you some advance warning. Alternatively, you can choose from the built in alerts. These ranges from simple beeps, to MMA air horns and boxing bells, to bells and gongs for more relaxing timers.

Great interval timer

I used it mainly for Peak 8 work at first, but I keep finding more uses for it. Besides Peak 8 I have to put in an hour or so of cardio a day (I'm a diabetic and even vigorous exercise isn't enough by itself.) Now I also work a few bursts into my hour long Airdyne ride and get even better results. I've even set it up for my weight lifting sessions. (Not very successfully so far.)
I've got a few things I would like improved. I would like for the song that is interrupted by the burst round to continue when the burst is over. (When I hear just a bit of a song I can get it stuck in my head for days!)
But it is so good that when I left my iPad at work today I drove back there at ten o'clock so I would have my timer for working out.

Good assistant for swim coach

I started using this app at swim practice to make it easier to do interval with the swimmers and count each send of a set, which helps me to keep them on pace, but focus how they are swimming instead of monitoring their send offs. Helps to make gradual changes in send times too! I haven't tried creating mixed or descending/ascending sets yet, but I hope to create some of those too. It's taken my coaching and training methods to a more sophisticated level.

Great app for interval training

I use this for running intervals, a 5 minute plank routine. I have about about 20 different customized running workouts. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because I have one pyramid workout that will not work with music: if you play music, it will not beep, and I have to hold the phone in my hand and keep looking at it, which is a total pain! Otherwise, this is one of my favorite apps, that I use 5 days a week!
