The timing screen has a large time display that can easily be read from a distance. It works in portrait or landscape. The current interval and next interval are displayed so you can see also what's up now and next. The entire background uses the current interval colour so you don't even need to read the name.

Seconds comes with templates for HIIT, Tabata and Circuit Training making it very easy to quickly create a timer for your workouts. If you require more advanced options, Seconds doesn't let you down. You can create completely custom timers one interval at a time, or even combine timers together to create compound timers.

Seconds supports Bluetooth heart rate sensors and allows you to configure the display to show your current heart rate and estimated calories burned during your training session.

The text to speech option will read out your interval names as you get to them, or even give you some advance warning. Alternatively, you can choose from the built in alerts. These ranges from simple beeps, to MMA air horns and boxing bells, to bells and gongs for more relaxing timers.

Seconds allows you to match the intensity of your music to the intensity of your workout. For each interval, you can select a song, album, artist, genre, playlist, podcasts or audiobooks. If this is not to your taste you can simply play another music source in the background.

Seconds pro makes it easy to work out.

Seconds pro makes it easy to build and time your work out. This timer is by far the best timer on the iPhone. From Tabata to Rounds to HIIT, you can quickly set up your timer, music, and have total control on all alarms, colors, and other settings. With a little work, the custom timer and compound timers allow you to create any type of workout you could want. Some specific features from the program are: multiple ways to handle cycle and timer rest periods, importing timers from the Internet, and overrun. The huge library of importable timers from the Internet help you get to moving in a few seconds after a search.

The only drawback with the program is the learning curve to combine different types of timers can be annoying. Often when the timers work differently from what you want. Often your first few complex timers will be completely jumbled around. After you get the hang of it, you will create every work out possible in a few minutes.

Everything I need in a timer

I used this for my own and client's training sessions. Every now and then the music component doesn't play even though I set it to play. But that could be due to me having too much going on with my iPad. Actually I haven't tried using a timer w/ music since the update. So it may work perfectly fine now. I have several timers saved from two years ago and I never have issues with any deleting.

I am very pleased with this app. It makes my training much easier. I would definitely recommend going pro. There is no better option. Just realized there is a compound timer option and am too excited about it. So much so I had to write this review.

Update: this has improved a bit. Plan a workout ahead of time and press play when ready to go. I usually listen to Pandora during workouts. I still like it and the pro is worth it

Simple... Intuitive... Effective!!!

I have tried numerous fitness apps (mostly specific to running). But though I am tech-savvy I generally found a variety of these apps inconsistent and troublesome. Meaning, I would configure them to prompt me through a workout, do a test work-out to insure it works, yet when it came time to do the actual workout the apps wouldn't perform as anticipated. I was that guy on-the-side of the trail fussing with apps and sensors. I have had Seconds Pro for years but dismissed it because of its simplicity - I thought I needed an app that was more complex to motivate me. Wrong! Seconds Pro does exactly what I needed without distraction. By providing me with clear voice prompts for interval changes (works so well I never need to look at my phone) while my apple watch records "open goal" to add additional metrics to geek out on after the workout.
