This multimedia app accompanies the exhibition Seeing Through Light: Selections from the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Collection, the inaugural show of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
The app explores the artworks featured in the exhibition, which celebrates more than 60 years of modern art, and the inspirations behind them. This group of artworks illuminates the creative vision of the future museum, offers the first glimpse of what is to come, and represents a significant milestone in the evolution of the new museum.
The adult Seeing Through Light tour leads you through all of the works in the exhibition, an experience that spans from New York in the 1950s to modern day Abu Dhabi. The exhibition is divided into five sections: Perceptual, Reflected, Activated, Transcendent and Celestial. The guide provides an explanation for each section, detailing the theme explored by the artists in each section, followed by in-depth commentaries on the works and the artist’s who made them.
Featuring 15 beautifully designed activities the family Seeing Through Light tour invites you to further understand and interact with the artwork and explore the properties of light, enhancing your understanding of the concepts and ideas used to create the exhibits. The activities encourage you to play with the contrasting reflective properties of different materials, create your own work inspired by the artworks and even examine your own emotional responses to the artwork.
Combined with beautiful design, these playful interactive activities tightly bind the tour and exhibition and serve to create a unique and lasting visitor user.
The exhibition is on at Manarat Al Saadiyat, the premiere art, culture, and heritage centre in the Saadiyat Cultural District in Abu Dhabi. It is open daily 09:00 to 20:00 and entry is free of charge. Visit saadiyatculturaldistrict.ae for more information. Seeing Through Light: Selections from the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi collection is on until the 19th January, 2015.
