Introducing Embertone's first Virtual Instrument for your iPhone/iPad: a deeply sampled iOS instrument with true legato, and the only virtual instrument with Sexiness Control. If you're looking for that George Michael/"Careless Whispers" sound... look no further!
This is your digital solution to sax saturation. Bring your sax levels to 11... Try Sensual Sax today!
- MIDI input / output
- Audio Unit 3
- True legato sampling for realistic note transitions
- Three sets of articulations
Controls include REVERB (with controllable AMOUNT and ROOM SIZE settings); VIBRATO (with dedicated DEPTH slider); DELAY (with control over AMOUNT and TIME); and switchable LEGATO, SUSTAIN, and STACCATO playing styles using the onscreen lockable keyboard (switchable to DOUBLE KEYBOARD for further flexibility). It goes without saying that it is compatible with all major iOS-based DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), working with Apple’s Audio Unit Extensions technology — that brings the Audio Units system-level full plug-in architecture model (that was previously only available to third-party developers like Embertone in OS X) to iOS — as well as Inter-App Audio and Audiobus for full communication with the outside musical world.
Founded by composer/orchestrator Alex Davis and composer/sound designer Jonathan Churchill, Embertone has been producing next-level virtual instruments since 2012. Its mission is simple: sample lots of great instruments, and bring them to market to inspire awesome new music! The co-founders seriously love what they do, admiring the likes of Tonehammer, Sample Modeling, and Sonic Couture — companies that have led the way to this new age of deeply-sampled virtual instruments, and aim to move that tradition forward by finding new ways to capture the essence of an instrument and program it in an intuitive and responsive package... and, of course, offer it to the composing community at an atttractive price! As the go-to company for musicians looking for realistic and fun virtual instruments since releasing the free Intimate Strings LITE for Native Instruments’ industry-standard KONTAKT (4.2.4+), the full-blown Friedlander Violin subsequently became the flagship solo product for the KONTAKT PLAYER platform while setting the production standard for future realistic-sounding releases.
I want your sax!
I tried this withan mpe controller. 4 instances as AU plugins in AUM with each its own dedicated midi channel (per note channel) and it sort of worked. Each note receiving cc#2 for pressure /volume control and tried both sex knob with cc#1 active and not active for y axis controls. While the configuration worked it produced clicks and pops and zippering noises while changes in cc1&2 were changed. I don't know if this is asking for more resources than a iPad Pro handles. What makes it more difficult to play with mpe and wind controllers is that each note trigger is only a one shot loop which has no sustain longer than 2-3 seconds. Pitch bends limited to 2 semitones. Triggering from keys has the same result. So, basically it felt more frustrating with an expressive control versus static controller. I think the static controller kind of fits the aesthetic of a sexy Sax sample anyways.
That being said what the developers have done with this app and its scripting is still amazing. If you are a jazz guy I don't even know why you would take seriously something with a sex knob without asking to add a digital wind chime machine from the developers. Is this an option? This is an going to have some production value for many and fills a certain niche. I will continue to keep my eye on this developer and whenever I need more sex appeal in my music I know I at least have a big tool in my app drawer for the job.
Don't wait, get laid.... I mean get this app.
What's here not to love? AU, AB, IAA, MIDI and it is universal, for only 5 bucks! I instantly bought it and absolutely love it. I dig the interface with the colorful 80's new retro wave look and animations and a sense of cheesy humor. Despite the sexual innuendo which might appear corny to some, this app breathes quality and it sounds and plays great. The built-in reverb and delay effects, plus the variety of the samples and vibrato really do a phenomenal job at making this instrument sound lush, atmospheric and pretty expressive and convincing sounding. I am an instant fan and hope this developer will release more apps like this one at the same price point.
Wonderful, as expected.
I am not shocked in the slightest when I say this was better than expected. Easily one of the best sampled saxophones I have heard, and to see them bring the VST over into mobile form just makes it even more fun.
Embertone has worked their way into being one of my favorite VST library producers, and I can't wait to see what they do next.
Keep up the awesome work guys I'm a huge fan.
