SOS (Sex Offenders Search) helps you locating registered sex offenders and sexual predators in your neighborhood, around your children's schools, friends, parks and campgrounds.
Our world can be a dangerous place. Knowledge and awareness are our first line of defense.
Are you moving to a new area? Are you buying/renting a new house? Will you be living close to any of those dangerous individuals? Are your children visiting a relative or a friend? Will they be safe?
Just activate your iPhone GPS and locate registered sex offenders in the area around you. You can also search offenders by name, by address, zip code or even near your contacts in the address book.
Offenders will be displayed on an interactive map on your iPhone. You will be able to navigate around and click on any of the locations to see the picture, name, address, and offenses of any individual you select.
Currently SOS only contains registered sex offenders located in the United States. Our database is updated once a day with new information as it becomes available. SOS requires the iPhone OS 3.0 to run.

Good app with some areas to work on
Over all an good application with useful information. I have a few cons though. First, the program has crashed several times after it has been on for a couple of minutes. Another is that I live in a dense urban area but only show 5 offenders in my area and I know from other sources that there are quite a few more than that. Looking through the detail screens, I see that there are more listed that shown on the map. Also, when an address is searched to see what offenders are around this address, no blue icon shows the location of the searched address. Another is that both contact URLs on the Apple page lead to same page and is without link to developer of support.
Wish list would include the ability to flick through the detail images without having to back out and select another name in the list.
I had heard about this app and the various sex offender websites, but actually seing red pins all around certain areas definetely makes you wonder. Some of the charges are completely stupid, I can just imagine the DA branding these people as sex offenders when all they needed was a slap on the wrist. Unfortunatley this takes away from using this registry to locate the *truly* dangerous and devious individuals that pose a *real* risk. I would say that a third of the charges for the dots in my neighborhood are in the "innocous - the DA should be fired" category, but the other two thirds are really creeps... So while I disagree on labeling some categories of offenders as sex offenders, this app does do indeed a very nice job in displaying the data it's supposed to display. It's fast and very user-friendly.
Outdated Offender List
When I updated my search engine there were still offenders missing off the database that I know are in my area that are posted in my kids school. Something I would recommend is for the author of the program to come up with an agreement with local authorities to get lists so that this program can be kept up to date whenever either a new person is added or if they move. Other then the above issue the program is great... the search is easy, pictures and names are great so that I can show my kids what they look like. My local news station recommended this one morning on their program and therefore I bought it.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
