Win a Year's Supply of Salt!

For a game that's been out for over a year, I find it surprising that the matchups in PvP and PvC (story mode) is so unbalanced. After doing mission 8 in the story mode, it is difficult to win with the default deck. I feel that I should mention that the game gives you a a bit of free packs to work with. However, even with a few gold and legendary cards now if your deck, your chances of winning isn't much better. I decided the logical step would then be to try out PvP. I got thoroughly destroyed. I can tell that the opponent has collected many, many cards and played an equal amount of games from the cards rarity and synergy. Despite having a great draw, in my opinion, I was unable to keep anything on the field for more than the turn they were played. At this point, I called it quits.

Aside from the matchup, I find the game's interface to be cluttered, having too many buttons and tabs on the screen at once, as well as redundant, requiring the player to pass through several loading screens. The story is very generic and the translation (I'm playing with Japanese voice acting and English subtitles) is inaccurate at best. As for the "evolve" feature, I feel that it gives the second player too much of an advantage. On top of having one extra use, the second player can "evolve" cards one turn earlier. Coupled with having an extra card drawn at turn one, it's pretty much a curse for me to go first.

Just bad

I was enjoying the game and doing the story mode to unlock cards and build my own up. Unfortunately, I decided to delete this game because of really bad implementation. While I don’t expect the game to be easy, there are opponents you face off with when you’re new that draw 15/15 cards and wipe you out right away or have cards that are literally broken. 1 such card was played to the opponents massive advantage for consecutive matches in a row where I was constantly having to deal with 9/9 cards by the 5th round. Honestly, it was a giant turn off and just led me to removing the game from my phone. I’m a big card player and I would have been a loyal customer, but it seems like it’s not well rounded at all. Hearthstone is much more well-rounded and thought out. Shadowverse is basically Hearthstone with a chance to evolve cards instead of use hero powers. I’m gonna play Hearthstone.

Entertaining, Easy to learn!

I only like having one or two games on my phone that I really enjoy playing, and Shadowverse is one of them! The cards are creative, the voice acting and animation are gorgeous, and they do a great job of teaching the mechanics of the game. I haven’t had to spend any real money, and I’m doing pretty well. Definitely worth the time to really build an awesome deck!
