Can’t Do Anything
You literally cannot do anything on this app without upgrading to Shakespeare Pro. Basically, when you click on a feature, it gives you a tiny tidbit of information from maybe one play and then says “Upgrade to Shakespeare Pro to see more!” Upgrading to the Pro version costs 10 dollars, which is crazy. The only thing that you can do is look through all of the plays ebook style, but you can just as easily look up a PDF online without downloading the app. Therefore, the free version isn’t helpful at all. I was hoping for something more than all of the plays, all of which you can easily find online. It’s a shame they charge so much for the Pro version, because those features are things people actually need and, I imagine, why a majority of people downloaded it. If there were some features that are Pro-only, it is understandable, but literally ALL of the features were closed off except for the online plays. Disappointing, and misleading.

This is not correct. You have high-quality editions of the complete works of Shakespeare with no limitations. You can search and there are other features which come free in the app. The study section has some info, but that and the glossary require upgrading to Shakespeare Pro. So not ALL the features require an upgrade, but if you're looking to have the complete high-quality works with a simple search and other basic features, this is just enough for that need.
We add new content and features on a regular basis. The Pro upgrade includes the complete First Folio, extensive study materials, notes, and other features. If you were to total up the equivalent cost of all that content and features, it would be more than 10x the $9.99 price!
Huh... I've been told by devs that the free version (which I've had for about a decade) never had line numbers. I don't think that's accurate... but let's give them the benefit of the doubt... Because line numbers don't exactly make or break the app. So I'm emending my rating to 5 stars.
Would be really annoying to discover it did, at some point, have line numbers (which I seem to remember)... I will check some of my ancient iphone backups, and rate accordingly.
In the meantime... Please (re-)institute line numbers. It's a basic feature of the format, it's not a 'bonus' in any fair sense of the word. Thanks.

No, we have never taken away any feature in 10 years! Line numbers are only available in the Pro upgrade. So you might have lost your upgrade or there might be another bug. Don't hesitate to get in touch with support to help sort it out: firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is perfect for my current project and has Been very helpful. Search function is key and though it needs a tweak as Othello seems to be off a bit, and the poems etc don't get excluded when you narrow a search, it is still remarkably useful. Now they need to add some more of the apocryphal texts--Arden of Faversham was recently included as in part by WS by Oxford I think, and there are several still under suspicion of him helping on. But this couldn't have come at a better time for me.

Thank you for the feedback. We can't duplicate the search issue you describe, but please email our support and we'll fix it right away!
