Doesn’t really work

The mobile app works great - this, not so much. When it does recognize something it takes ages, but most of the time it just doesn’t recognize. You can put it up against the mobile app on the same tracks and the gap in functionality is very large. The interface doesn’t help - I’m all for minimalism - but there is no feedback at all unless it eventually recognises something … so when it doesn’t work you can’t tell if it’s just not hearing anything for some reason or if the database of songs is somehow smaller than the mobile app (which of course makes no sense since it’s all online). I’m at a loss as to why its so bad but have given up and just put my iphone against the computer’s speakers.

A lot of bad ratings but I’m very impressed with it!

Shazam has it’s job, does that job, and doesn’t try to do anything else. All you have to do is do is click start listening and it will pick up any music playing near you. In my experience it took a minute before recognizing songs that came on, but that’s fine! Most songs are at least a few minutes long. I was also in a room with a bunch of people talking and the music was at a low volume but it was still able to pick up what was playing. Great app!

A valiant effort

It’s clear from the simplicity, clean interface, and easy usability that you put good effort into this. It’s great. Well. Almost. Just when I check my battery usage, one application is using the most power: Shazam!

You should be running with little or no energy expended. But no! So now I can’t leave this going in the background (it IS really draining my mid-2014 Macbook Pro’s battery). Please try again, guys.

But it works otherwise.
