Shelf is an extremely simple app that helps you keep note of the books you love, and what made you love them. Search for and add any book to your collection, and write down "thoughts" for each book.
It's very simple, yet super flexible.
- Added the ability to separate your completed books from your in-progress ones.
- Redesigned the book detail view slightly, so it looks a bit better, and it lets you, you know, tell it that the book is done.
Ratings and Reviews
I saw the app on Lifehacker and it looked to be right up my alley. The app is simple to use and not overcomplicated with graphics and menus, a huge plus IMO.
the only downfall I can see at the moment is that you have to use the search function to add books to your library so if your book isn't in that database, no dice. For instance I picked up the excellent Assassin's Creed the Complete Visual History and that isn't in the database so I can't make notes on it. I have mailed and tweeted the Dev, so hopefully I can update this review in the near future.
Wonderful app, missing some essentials
I discovered Shelf recently and find it extremely useful to make notes on the books I'm reading, started not finished, etc. However it is missing a few essential tools, the ability to export the notes being the most important. The ability to format the notes, perhaps take a snapshot of a page, and search among the notes would be helpful as well. I hope the author continues to work on it.
Very useful and well designed app. I wish that I could rearrange the order of my notes for any given book. This way I could move the most important notes to the top of my list. Would also be nice if I could manually reorganize the order the books in the app too.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
