Not perfect, but gets the job done


I was excited when Shipt partnered with Meijer so we finally could get it in our area. I'm sort of a suburban hermit so this is great. My normal grocery list of about $80 worth of stuff came out to about $100. But considering the special requests I put in I felt that was fine. For me, an hour of my time is worth much more than that markup (not to mention gas use going to store, time driving , waiting inline, dealing with broken machines and the general public , etc). Also a lot of items were on sale. So it wasn't that terrible.

The first shipt order's shopper totally goofed up. He wasn't telling me straight but I think his phone battery ran out. Shipt handled it nicely and gave me a beefy credit on my order. The next shopper grabbed it and handled it right away. I will say, they should but a more conservative time window though. Both shoppers hadn't even STARTED shopping at the time of the delivery window. I would recommend only using this when you are home for the day and if it takes 3 hours instead of 1, no harm would be done. This is not good for when you need an extra cup of sugar for an already-in-progress meal prep. I found telling the shopper don't rush and I'm home whenever leads to a less error prone order.

Whoever is developing the iOS app though, is not a professional developer , the barcode scan NEVER works. Why can't it enable the camera like every other app can, it makes me do it myself? And it's horribly slow.

This service is been one of the best decisions I’ve made. The app is easy to navigate and find what you need, and if you don’t find it the special request option take care of that. The only thing that I would like to see that I haven’t seen is the option to remove an item from the buy again page. If there’s a way to do that, I haven’t found it yet. Otherwise very easy, have had no problems and would highly recommend this app and the service to anybody who might be considering it.
The ap also allows you to leave notes for each item in case something is not available when the a shopper is shopping your list. You have the option to tell them to use their best judgment or to contact you with questions and anytime that has been an issue for me, I have had excellent communication with them. There’s also been no errors. Sometimes what the app has is not available in the store but that’s when you can talk with them about a substitution if you want.

The way Shipt handles deactivation is unprofessional. Usually an employer, will issue warnings or at least alert their employee that if they repeat/ fail to do an action, they may possibly face termination. Shipt did not reach out to me prior to deactivating my account to forewarn me that if I did not complete a TRAINING, in an allotted time that I would be deactivated. Honestly I feel as if this was used as an excuse to take me off of the platform. Who terminates employment over a training ??? It was way too convenient for them to deactivate me seeing that they are literally always hiring. Also,in the email received by Jacob Little (Shopper coach) he claimed that Shipt tried to reach me multiple times. They did not. I was sent one email. If there is a trouble with a customers order, Shipt will quickly call the current shopper for that order. I would assume Shipt would try all possible avenues to reach a shopper if they are at risk of being deactivated from the platform. I would sincerely suggest that Shipt forewarns their shoppers of possible repercussions.

Here’s to hoping that future shoppers receive the proper notifications and are treated fairly.
