Very disappointed

I have now realized many users went through the same thing as me... never saw it through the years of usage until today. Without warning, my account was terminated. I just so happened to be a few stops away from a $50 gift card today... odd coincidence? My account was terminated without me violating any rules! I have had trouble collecting kicks at the stores... walking in and around stores without being credited for walking in. Certain scans would mysteriously disappear as I arrived at the stores... those are a small amount of issues with the app. I let those all go because it was free and I was grateful for the gift cards. Today after walking through three stores and working toward this gift card and being robbed of my reward, I realized it is all a scam. This app has had me in places I didn’t plan to shop at - had me running around getting tempted to buy unnecessary items- which I often did. All for nothing. I do not recommend this app any longer. After convincing a handful of friends to join, I now warned them to close their accounts since they most likely will not collect their rewards. Nothing in life is free. Mama was right.

Hi Jaborida - Millions of dollars in free gift cards are enjoyed by Shopkickers each year and we're sorry to hear you are having a problem.  We are trying to look into it but are unable to locate your Shopkick account based on the information available to us in this review. Can you please reach out to us directly at

From time to time, we do unfortunately have to ask a small number of users to leave our community when they break the rules (they can be found here:  The free gift cards are being paid for by our retail and brand partners, and we need to make sure that users are collecting kicks on the selected in-store activities in accordance with the terms.  In this way Shopkick remains free and fair for everyone in the community.

We hope to hear from you and be able to help you.

Thanks - Shopkick

You guys are slipping

Queen of Kicks

As a long time kicker, I have to say your customer service is slipping fast - as well as your “enhancements”. The scanning of receipts is basically a scam. I have submitted over 6 receipts with items purchased and have been denied. Reached out to customer service with no response. You guys used to be so good! Have also been denied kicks for walk ins - and the store even had s sign saying kick tech not working but have not received a response or kicks. No - of so few kicks on discover tab makes me not want to bother - and I used to scan all the time for ideas and go to store. If you’re having a problem with your retail partners, maybe offering a 10% off or something as a surprise walk in reward. Or on the discover page. Sounds like you need some business development assistance to go along with your tech. I don’t recommend the app anymore and am questioning whether to continue or not. The monthly limits don’t make it fun and don’t keep me engaged. It actually makes me shop less.

Developer Response

So sorry to hear about your recent experiences. It's our policy to respond to every message sent to us, so please make sure that the email you submitted for us to respond to has no typos, otherwise our replies bounce back to us. If that email address looks correct then we'll be reaching out to you as soon as we possibly can. We add new items to scan and new big kick walk-in opportunities as often as we can, and are always working on getting more kicks and value in the app. Ultimately, these offers are determined by our brand and retail partners, and some times of year are a bit slower that others. Please have a little patience -- more kicks are coming! :)

Beware-they’ll kick you out w/out a reason

When you are given a moving violation ticket, the officer tells you exactly what you did wrong. You have removed me from Shopkicks telling me nothing other than I did something wrong. That tells me nothing. Your response to my comment is that you have to remove people that violate your rules to keep Shopkicks free and fair for all. I am part of “all” and by not telling me what I have done, because I have done EVERYTHING according to your rules to the best of my knowledge, you are not being fair to ME! WHAT DID I DO TO VIOLATE YOUR RULES??? TELL ME!!!!

My husband and I were doing Shopkicks just like all of you. One day, without any warning, I get kicked out. I contacted them to find out what I had done wrong and they told me to read the rules. Fair enough. I read them line by line and STILL could not find why they would kick me out and contacted them again about it and was told the same thing, I had broken the rules but they would not tell me what rule I had broken. I guess I was guilty of collecting just enough points to get a free Starbucks and starting over for my next cup. This is a scam.

Developer Response

We are sorry. It is very unfortunate when we have to remove a member from our community. It is not in Shopkick's interest to do so – people earning and redeeming kicks for gift cards is what makes our business work. However, we have an obligation to make sure the policies are followed so that Shopkick can remain free and fair for all members.
