Works VERY well, semi or full auto, indoors or out...
Once setup, this is an excellent Shot Timer app. . It has a great calibration feature, it even has a setting so it doesn't pick up echoes as shots. It was even able to pickup every shot while shooting my grandfathers select-fire "M-16", although I used the select fire Lower receiver attached to a Colt M4 upper(yes the firearm I am talking about is legal, as it is a registered, pre-ban machine gun.). My point is it's very impressive that it was able to pickup every shot when there was only about one-10th of a second between each shot, in fact the app was able to tell me exactly the time between each shot. To sum up, this apps ability to pickup every shot whether your shooting a semi-auto shotgun outdoors or automatic fire indoors really impresses me.
I just saved $150
I was going to purchase a CED 7000 shot timer with a belt clip for a total of about $150 through Midway USA. I am very glad I downloaded this free app. I usually don't write reviews on anything, but felt compelled to in this case. I used it today with an iPhone 5, clipped to my belt, and with the earbuds under my hearing protection. It worked PERFECTLY. I fired 150 rounds in many different drills. There was a shotgun range about 50 yards away, and it never had a problem distinguishing between my shots and the shotgun rounds. For my purposes, this app is perfect! I also like the e-mail function for analyzing your data later. The only suggestion I have was mentioned by someone else, a loop function so I don't have to hit start again everytime I finish a phase of fire.
great little app
the random start delay and the par time features are exactly what i was looking for in a timer. they have helped me master the malfunction clearance drills and making shoots under the test times.
if there was a way to set the timer to loop the delay interval / par time / etc. etc. That way once i hit start, i would only need to get back in position and wait for the next par interval without needing to break my focus and grip to hit start each time.
