The first native Digg client for iPad!
PLEASE READ BEFORE REVIEWING!!!
This version of Shovel for iPad is a very early release. Like all other new iPad applications, we haven't had access to actual iPads to test on yet, nor have we been able to implement 100% of the features we'd like to see in the future. Please read below for a list of features that are on the immediate horizon, and we greatly appreciate your patience with our app.
Future Features --
Social Media Integration including Instapaper, Read It Now and Facebook publishing.
Full access to searching stories.
Direct access to user data, including submitted stories, comments, and dugg stories.
And much much more!
If you have any suggestions, please let us know in the comments!
With that said... Give it a whirl! Congratulations on the new iPad!
Shovel for iPad is the premier Digg client application for the iPad!
Through Shovel you gain access to the world of socially aggregated online news. While the site specializes in Tech news, there are more specialized categories where you can find news of interest to car enthusiasts, outdoorsmen, and more than anyone's fair share of funny videos.
All of the stories and submissions are voted on by the community and the best rise to the top!
So when you load up Shovel you are treated to a listing of the top rates, most up to date news, in topics that you're interested in.
Building on the successes of Shovel for iPhone, we recreated our API interface, taking advantage of the new features available to developers through Digg's API.
Shovel for iPad makes use of the DiggTM API.
Don't waste your money
I've had this app for over a year now. In the beginning it was decent. Now I can't get it to work anymore. Yes I've uninstalled, yes I've reinstalled, yes I've rebooted, etc etc. It will load new stories but it seems after you read one story (visiting their site) the app then won't load new stories. I've given up - I expected an update only to be let down.
The dev has had more than enough time to test their app - there's no reason a $3 app, that's been around for so long, should be this buggy.
I am normally not critical of apps as I work in the IT and Programming field and understand time constraints and priorities, however, you've had plenty of time to fix this app. If you've given up on developing for it, remove the app and quit wasting people's time and money. Simply the truth.
SAVE YOUR MONEY
This was one of the first apps I purchased, and unfortunately, it does much less than using a browser. There are many interface problems. You cannot read full articles from app, even if choosing the "visit site". Also, this app came out with the iPad launch, but has a large note at the top of the description stating its the first version and that we should consider before rating, as they had no access to the iPad ahead of time. However, it is still on version 1.0 and there is nothing but a large Ad type of description that is the same on the developer site or the site. That's it...no links to anything, no way to ask for help, nothing. Where is the support? Unacceptable.
Good start, but a little buggy
Good start, but a little buggy. After going to several sites by clicking visit site and voting, no other articles can be opened. or read. Have to close and reopen. Sometimes it works great, don't know what exactly causes it. Great start, hope they work out the kinks because it's got a lot of potential. Haven't asked for support help yet since I can't reproduce it at will. Don't let the problems stop you from buying, I'm sure they will fix the problems if people provide recreation steps.
