We feel certain that all of you will appreciate what is now a MUCH richer Shovel experience.
Through Shovel you gain access to the world of socially aggregated online news. While the site specializes in Tech news, there are more specialized categories where you can find news of interest to car enthusiasts, outdoorsmen, and more than anyone's fair share of funny videos.
All of the stories and submissions are voted on by the community and the best rise to the top!
So when you load up Shovel you are treated to a listing of the top rated, most up to date news, in topics that you're interested in.
Building on the success of Shovel 2.0, we started from the ground up and set out to build a truly fluid iPhone interface for an already outstanding experience.
Shovel uses the published DiggTM API.
DIGGTM, DIGG ITTM, DUGGTM, DIGG THISTM, DiggTM graphicsTM, logos, designsTM, page headers, button icons, scripts, and other service names are the trademarks of DiggTM Inc.

An enjoyable app, always fun reading. The inability to participate, leave comments, etc., is a problem. Aggravating that, which is due to Digg's API, is the alert box that says, in effect, "Yeah, we have a post button but you can't really use it until Digg fixes its API. The "dismiss" button says "Hurrah!" Well, that's not my response after laboriously typing an entry. How about some better interaction here, or at least an alert that comes up before you've squinted your life away typing, rather than after, and kindly can the "Hurrah," will ya?
I upgraded from the free version to lose the ads, but more importantly to gain landscape viewing. That was worth the three bux to me.
Update- some "pro" this is. Still will not communicate with digg, just hangs. Get out of the 19th century guys. Your shovel's burying you.
Update 9-1-10 - Now suddeny tells me that "Shovel requires an internet connection to fetch stories from Digg." All my other apps are seeing my WiFi connection just fine, thank you. In terms of interface and now connectivity, this is a total waste of time. Used to be fun (hence the two stars) but no longer.
A couple big problems but otherwise a good app
The easiest way to force a refresh is to digg a story or leave a comment. This almost always causes Shovel to crash. Really annoying if you just spent 20 minutes writing a comment. I write all my comments in notes and then paste them in now. Aside from these two major problems, this is a real nice app. Really hope they get around to updating it soon.
Can't post from within shovel
Every time I try to write a reply on digg im shovel the app crashes. So far I've only been able to successfully get a post in without crashing twice out if dozens of attempts. Otherwise it works fine but it's still highly annoying when this is one of the apps touted features.
