Description

Sidekicks makes it easy for parents to talk to their autistic child, and share in their intense passions -- a defining characteristic of autism. Through active participation in your child’s strong interests, you can help them communicate better, grow emotionally and develop deeper relationships, all while having fun together!

Our unique combination of messaging service and YouTube search engine allows you to play, pause and discuss popular kid-friendly content that you and your child share with each other. Talk about what you’re watching -- about their day, tasks, feelings, or just have fun! it’s up to you...and them!

Sidekicks requires two devices. Simply download Sidekicks to a single iPhone or iPad, and we’ll quickly guide you through the rest of the setup process!

Check out feedback from a few of our early users:

-- Parent of 14-year old with autism

"Sidekicks has made him more confident and more social with his peers. It's a great addition to his other therapies and activities.”

Can't get it to work

Millerj2k2

Love the concept and the few times I've been able to use it with my client, he has been responsive. Just kept dropping the call. Not sure if it's the app or the phone carrier. Will continue to work with it though.

Helpful and fun

Being a dad of a child on the spectrum means constantly handling unexpected, sometimes volatile mood swings of my son. The videos he loves to watch are a godsend, but I've always found it difficult to communicate with him about them. He struggles to make eye contact and vocalize his feelings, like many spectrum kids. The Sidekicks app has been immensely helpful in resolving that. He opens up to the avatar characters much more than usual. We're able to watch videos he loves and interact together, instead of just me watching him watch YouTube.
