Exactly what I needed.
Last year, I found myself struggling with my eating disorder more often than usual. It was a downhill journey that neither I desired nor something that would be easy to fix, especially with my freshman year in college. Needless to say, I sought therapy on campus and, on a whim, decided to combine meditation—just 5 minutes a day. I've tried headspace, calm, and nearly every other service on the App Store. This is it. Simple Habit kept me going, and when I hit that 50 day streak, I nearly cried. It was a milestone I'd never thought I would reach. Lately, meditation's benefits have been researched and proven, so I urge you to try this. Aim for a 10 day streak, to make yourself better, and you'll find yourself calmer and more focused in situations that previously unnerved you or made you anxious.
Great app: flexible with something for everyone and every moment
I think this is a great app. I love that you can select how much time you have, whether 5, 10, or 15 minutes. I love that there are a wide variety of meditations available.
I sometimes find that I don't care for certain teachers. But luckily there are a large number of teachers and you can switch to a different meditation.
My only complaint, is if you meditate on your account on your laptop (for example a quick break at work), it does not sync up with your mobile app. Therefore, if you are someone who is looking to get a long streak of meditation, day after day, any Meditation on your laptop will not be reflected on your mobile app history.
Admittedly, I'm writing this because the app asked me to. However, I do whole-heartedly think that meditation is worth our time. I used Headspace for a long time, but fell off the bandwagon. While it has much to offer, Simple Habit offers topics that seem much more finely tuned to my needs. Not only that, but they have five minute meditations. Let me tell you, if you're not used to meditating, 10 minutes (the shortest Headspace offers) can seem like an eternity. Eventually, I think I'll work up to longer chunks of time, but to begin you gotta start small or you'll become discouraged. Both are great apps, but for me, Simple Habit is where it's at.
