Served my purpose wonderfully
I tried to get local servers to run on my Macbook air for two weeks. I couldn’t figure out how to run programs that I used I used in Windows on Mac. I wish I would have found this two weeks ago. Super simple.
Open it. Find the inon in the tray / bar at the top of the screen. Click to run the server, open the file you need to run, access local host in a browser URL bar with the extension number it gives you. Super easy.
It is really what it is, a Simple HTTP Server.
It is a really simple HTML server, for those who say it is not opening it is because it doesn't open as an app, it is in the bar at the top of the screen. You click on the app in the aplications folder; go to the bar at the top of the screen; click; Start Server; and choose your .html file. But for some reason the background picture will not show at all, thats why it is a two-three star, because it is for simple html's but then again it could be my setup for the file.
Does what it says
Yes, it's a simple straightforward server.
Those having difficulty launching it - the program doesn't show you a window immediately. It loads an icon in your system menu bar somewhere on the upper right of your screen. Click that menu icon to get to the server options.
Yes, it does open a port on your Mac. That's what a server is intended to do. If you don't have a port open, you can't serve any files.
